San Francisco | Health, Housing, and Public ServicesMARCH for BUDGET JUSTICE in SAN FRANCISCO!
* All City Departments should share the pain of budget cuts including police, fire, high paid executives, and public relations staff.
Budget Justice is a group of organizations representing vulnerable populations being hit hard by budget reductions. They include Coleman Advocates, Coalition on Homelessness, Housing Justice, Council of Community Housing Organizations, Senior Action Network, Immigrant Rights Defense Committee, Planning for Elders in the Central City, SEIU, San Francisco Human Services Network, and more.
Following the march the Board of Supervisor's Budget Committee voted "3-2 to pass an amendment cutting $82 million out of the Police, Fire and Sheriff Departments – so that the City can more evenly 'spread the pain' of the financial crisis among various agencies. It was the first signal that the Board means business, and will not be content with just tinkering around the edges." MORE --Paul Hogarth, Beyond Chron
