Two blunders, occurring almost simultaneously, by Canadian and U.S. officials have potential for harm. In Canada, secret documents were left at a television station for 8 days, while in the U.S., a highly confidential report was posted on the internet.
In Canada, Natural Resources Minister, Lisa Raitt, left a binder of top-secret documents that outlines details about Canada's nuclear power program (Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.) at an Ottawa television station. The documents contained in the binder show that Canada's nuclear power program is in serious difficulty, despite billions of dollars being pumped into the program. According to CTV, the documents
"lists total funding for Atomic Energy of Canada, Ltd. since 2006 at $1.7 billion."
