Legalize it. Tax it. Regulate it like alcohol.

by AB390
California Assembly Bill 390, introduced in February by Assemblymember Tom Ammiano, would legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for adult recreational use. The majority of Californians support this legislation. The marijuana majority needs to speak out in favor of this bill.

The majority of Californians support legalization of marijuana for adult recreational use. In February, Assemblymember Tom Ammiano introduced California Assembly Bill 390 which would legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana like alcohol.

Why is marijuana still illegal? Because not enough California voters have contacted their state legislators to demand an end to marijuana prohibition.

If you favor legalization, please contact your California legislators today and tell them to support AB 390. It's easy. Visit yes390.org

by Analysis of Ammiano Bill

(a) The department shall license commercial cultivators of marijuana. The fee for the license shall be set at an amount that will reasonably cover to costs of assuring compliance with the regulations to be issued, but may not exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000) for an initial application, or two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) per year for each annual renewal.

This law makes no attempt to legalize home grown Cannabis. The fees and the regulations on growing also preclude the growth of marijuana for personal consumption.

In my opinion, the US would benefit from the Government controlling the sale of Pot. Farmers could grow it, R. J. Reynolds and their comrades could package it, the Government could tax it and the whole freak-in country would be happy. If a grown person (over the age of 23 (let's say)) could go into the local 7-11 and buy a pack of 'US GOLD' For $50.00 or a pack of 'Mexican Gold' for $75.00, no one would complain. The drug war would come to an end and the illegal sale on the street corners would dry up for those over '23' and the taxes the Feds and States would receive would have all budgets in the black within a couple of years. Marijuana was created by Mother Nature for the benefit of man and Science has proven it's benefit. The pharmaceutical companies are the ones who keep the product on the illegal side of the books. It would eliminate the need for all the chemicals they manufacture and get John and Jane Doe dependent on. There would not be as much depression or pain in our country as there is now. President Obama could put a feather in his hat by legalizing this 'herb' for the benefit of an adult. Alcohol is sold over the counter and look at the damage it does and it's legal...................why shouldn't a product that was put on this earth, free of charge, to help mankind, be made available across the counter.. in all states, just like the killer alcohol is. Look at the damage some perscription drugs do, they make killers out of people and cause people to kill themselves, and they are legal as long as you have a perscription. I have yet to read an article or hear about one on the News about a man or woman who has killed someone as a result of smoking some pot. In reality, people who smoke pot, smoke less tobacco and drink less alcohol. I have always believed the legalization of pot would be beneficial for the country but the President will have to decide if the people are number 1 or if the pharmaceutical industry is number 1. It's time the pharmaceutical industry has some of it's power taken away. Whether a person buys a pack of pot across the counter for medicinal purposes or recreational purposes, it should be made available just like alcohol. I believe the general population is educated enough to agree that marijuana benefits mankind and it should be legalized. It's a lot safer than the drugs being made available by legitimate sources. Pot smokers will also tell you, a pot smoker rarely changes their drug of choice. They don't smoke pot and then move on to something stronger................that's more propaganda. They are very satisfied with a good grade of pot at a fair price. That's my opinion.
