D-Q UNIVERSITY IS SUPPOSED TO BE SHAMBLES



1 This is how the program works: the guy who leases three-fourths of D-Q University's 643 acres of' land is a rich, white, Republican named Duane Chamberlain.

2 Chamberlain is the Chairman of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors (5th District.) Every year, as part of a very controversial lease with "California's Only Tribal College," -D-Q University, Chamberlain feeds fifty-two thousand dollars to the school's corrupt board of Trustees.

3 From there, the money simply disappears. It has been vanishing into thin air for a number of years, now. Since January of 2005, the D-Q University board of trustees has not lifted a finger to try to get the school back on it's feet again; witness the California State Fire Marshall's very recent and official condemnation of the buildings at D-Q University, this due to lack of electricity and running water. Who shut the electricity and water off?, the board of trustees did, fourteen months ago.

4 The local courts and law enforcement system couldn't care less about the waste, fraud, and mismanagement happening right in its' own back yard at D-Q University. The board of trustees isn't worried either, that a generation of young, college-age American Indian and Mexica people are being shamelessly cheated out of a chance to get an education. From the board's myopic point-of-view, the status-quo at D-Q University is being maintained, and that's all that matters, therefore everyone should be happy.

5 The Yolo County Sheriff's Departmnt and the Yolo County Supepior Court are both well aware that the "leadership" of D-Q Univerity is riddled with greed and in-your-face corruption. This is precisely why these same entitites aren't doing much of anything to hold the professional bullshit artists on the board of trustees accountable for the missing money.

6 Because you see, D-Q University is SUPPOSED to be in shambles.

7 Every day that D-Q University remains paralyzed by the twin forces of Corruption and Confusion is another day that our young nieces and nephews from the community are denied the opportunity to attend classes at D-Q University. Through no shortcoming of their own, our young people are thusly prevented from learning how to walk, fight, and pray on behalf of the American Indian and Mexica people.

8 The board of trustees of D-Q University is actively supporting this not-so-secret program of cultural destruction. The Iron Hand of True History has documented again and again how the board of trustees (which isn't really a legal board in the first place) is working hand-in-hand with:

- Supervisor Duane Chamberlain:
- the wealthy White landowners (politicians) of Yolo County,
- the Yolo County Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team,
- the Yolo County Superior Court,
- the California Highway Patrol,
- the Sacramento Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs,
- the General Services Administration (Pacific Rim Division),
- the California Indian Manpower Consortium,
- and the local -extremely biased, White print-media

to make sure that D-Q University never rises again from the rubble of its still-smoking ashes.

9 The members of the 2009 board of trustees of D-Q University insist that the board and its 'leaders' are engaged in a heroic struggle to "save" D-Q University. But in day-to-day reality, nothing could be further from the truth. The board of trustees and the Bureau of Indian Affairs bureaucrats in Sacramento aren't interested in "saving" anyone -except themselves.

10 The board of trustees and their bureaucratic colleagues at the B.I.A. see no shame in sucking up to the White Mans' power-structure so that they can use his money: and his cops: and his political system: and his brute force to make war on their own people, -namely us.

11 The massive police assault that took place at D-Q University on March 31, 2008 was the result of an official request to the Yolo County Sheriff's Department from the D-Q University board of trustees. This request was contained in a letter written on official D-Q University letterhead and signed by every single member of the board, in January of 2008.

12 What does this mean from a historical point-of-view?, it means that the board of trustees of the only Tribal college in California SENT the modern-day equivalent of the US Cavalry into D-Q University to bully and brutalize a peaceful gathering of native people.

13 There's a secondary, sub-plot to this cowardly docu-drama: the arrest-orders for the eighteen elders and students who were (falsely) arrested at D-Q University on March 31, 2008 were signed by two members of the D-Q University board of trustees. The two board members of which we speak (both of them women) were also employees -at that time, of the Bureau of Indain Affairs.

14 To no one's surprise, the stuffed shirts at the Sacramento headquarters of the BIA denied all involvement in the mass arrests that their employees at D-Q University helped to orchestrate.

15 But the board of trustees' plan to rid themselves once and for all of the "troublemakers" at D-Q University backfired, big time. In the weeks following the mass arrests, the Yolo County District Atorney's abruptly dismissed of all of the trespassing charges that the cops had filed against all twenty-three of the people arrested at D-Q University. This series of arrests took place on February 20th, March 31st, and May the 2nd.

16 In dismissing the charges, the District Attorney said that the standoff at D-Q University "was a civil matter -not a criminal one."

17 In response, the board of trustees volunteered to re-imburse Yolo County for the cost of the March 31st police assault on the school, as well as for the damages and destruction that the cops had left behind.

18 For example, the board volunteered to pay for: (the)

- big holes in the doors of both dormitories -holes big enough to put your head through, made by the cops' hand-held battering ram,
- damage to furniture in the dormitory rooms; rooms that the cops had completely ransacked during their search:
- fifty cops: brand new paddy wagon, and two dozen cop cars that swarmed into D-Q University that day to arrest everyone in sight:
- cop spotter-airplane that circled overhead at D-Q University throughout the entire assault:
- drug-sniffing dogs that the cops brought onto campus to look for drugs, weapons and trouble:
-extensive ovetime-pay racked up by half a dozen cop cars who patrolled the grounds of D-Q University all night long for days afterward.

19 The money that the board used to pay for the assault -if indeed the board ever paid anything to Yolo County in the end, wasn't the board's money to begin with. It was the same money that the board had recieved from it's deep-pockets patron, Supervisor Duane Chamberlain.

20 Chamberlain in turn, got the money through the farming-operation that he runs on D-Q University land. Let us pause for a moment to connect all the dots involved here: a rich White man used the money that he derived from using and abusing American Indian land to enable the supposed "leaders" of an American Indian university to encourage a small army of cops to engage in a military-style operation designed to intimidate and arrest (almost) two dozen American Indian people and their supporters at D-Q University.

21 All of which goes to show that Money, Power, Racism, and Influence rule at D-Q University; and the "little people" be damned.

22 To this day, no one has been held accountable for the physical violence: racism and bigotry: handguns and stun-gun devices (taser units) that the cops pulled on the Indians at D-Q University during the assault: and the well-documented corruption that the board of trustees has seen fit to bring to D-Q University. The beat goes on -and on; drums of denial keep pounding rhythms to the board of trustee's brain.

23 Now, as a result of this document titled 'D-Q University Is Supposed To Be In Shambles,' the public knows why.

24 We of the Affiliated Obsidian Nation hold the statements that we have made in this people-to-people communique to be An Undisputed Truth. We should know what we're talking about; after all, we have been involved with D-Q University and its infamous dog-eat-dog American Indian politics for over thirteen years.

25 This is what's going on at D-Q University, as these words are being put to paper (May 3, 2009.)

26 Contrary to the beliefs of some "supporters" of The People's Struggle at D-Q University, (more on this, later) this document and the statements contained in it does not represent an attempt by the Affiliated Obsidian Nation to "leak" information about D-Q University out to the Real World.

27 All we are doing by way of this statement and the ones we've published in the recent past is to tell the World the Truth as we know it, regarding the ever-worseing crisis currently unfolding at D-Q University.

29 The D-Q University board of trustees has announced over the Internet that its members will holding their next meeting on May 11th. Traditionally, these meetings are supposed to take place at D-Q University, but the board has been hop-scotching around in recent months, with the location of its meetings.

30 Sometimes the meetings are here; (at the Red Lion Inn, in Sacramento) then they're there; (at the public library) then they're not anywhere at all (just plain didn't haoppen.) A word to the wise: the board is fond of cancelling its meetings, at the very last minute.

31 On May 11th, the board of trustees is scheduled to appear in Yolo County Superior Court. This appearance will center around the board's never-ending campaign to drive the members of The People's Occupation out of D-Q University for good. The May 11th court date is a continuation of a previous hearing of last April.

32 The A.O.N.s representatives will attend the May 11th court hearing as observers. Our in-house news publication, the the A.O.N. KINDRED SPIRIT ARCHIVES will have more information to share with the public at that time.
