In light of Attorney General Eric Holder's recent proclamation that the DEA would only pursue those who violate both federal AND state law, the citizens of California have a historic opportunity to legalize marijuana for adults. Assemblymember Tom Ammiano has introduced legislation to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for adults over 21.

§No link to the text of the bill?

That's weird, you'd think they'd want people to read the whole thing... or maybe it's because the bill would only apply to 21+ (medical cannabis patients must be 18 or have their parent/guardian's permission) and the tax might make legal weed unaffordable? Correct me if I'm wrong, I ran out of time when I was reading it some time ago and never got around to finishing it.
