Rehire Esther! March 30, 2009 Picket of SF Grand Hyatt Hote
Esther Domingues, a Unite Here Local 2 housekeeper was fired after 33 years at the San Francisco Grand Hyatt in Union Square. The hotel management was angry at Esther since she had defended less senior housekeepers at the hotel who were being discriminated against. The manager of the hotel David Nadelman came out to check the picket line and complain about the spelling of his name. He refused to explain why he is opposing Esther even getting unemployment benefits after being fired. San Francisco hotel bosses are gearing up for a strike when the contract expires and 7,000 San Francisco hotel workers maybe forced to go out this summer. Managers are seeking to get rid of the stronger union people in order to coerce the workers to continue to work if a strike takes place on August 1. To support Esther you can call or write the manager David Nadelman of the hotel at David Nadelman General Manager Grand Hyatt San Francisco 345 Stockton Street San Francisco, CA 94108 (415) 848-6005 (415) 421-3104 dnadelman [at] hyatt.com
