On March 31, during the 6:pm Oakland City Council meeting, councilmembers will be voting on the final passage of a series of proposals all lumped together (Agenda Item 10.6), which will result in the displacement of more than 500 households from their housing in coming months, if the proposals move forward! The community is invited to speak out against Agenda Item 10.6, to stop the displacement of more than 500 Oakland households from their housing!

Oakland's poor have been targeted for displacement by a $10 million renovation scheme being proposed by City Officials and non profit housing organizations who are trying to get their hands on occupied rental housing properties the City is willing to give away for free! The downside is that more than 500 low-income families will face displacement from their housing as a result, due to major renovation schemes being proposed at each proposed location and other housing sites citywide.

Join the struggle to oppose the funding for Oakland's major renovation schemes that will displace hundreds of low-income households! Speak out against the transfer of Oakland Community Housing, Inc. (OCHI), properties to greedy developers!


Event Type:
An organized speak out on March 31 at the Oakland City Council meeting against the proposed renovation schemes and displacement of more than 500 Oakland households as is being proposed in Agenda Item 10.6!

Tenants oppose Oakland's $10 million planned renovation schemes that will displace over 500 households Citywide, including the transfer of OCHI's properties to greedy developers!

Tenants at the following sites may face displacement if the renovation proposals (Agenda Item 10.6) move forward; Drachma Housing, Effie's House, Hugh Taylor House, the Posada De Colores Apartments, Eldridge Gonaway Commons, the Foothill Plaza Rentals, Marin Way Court Apartments, the Oaks Hotel, and Slim Jenkins Court.
