Please speak out to oppose proposed expansion of Pardee Reservoir.

Two upcoming meetings:

EBMUD public hearing on draft water plan
Monday, March 30
San Andreas Town Hall
24 Church Hill Road (W of Hwy 49)
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Please come tell EBMUD staff and any directors present how you use the river, how drowning miles of it would affect you, and how you feel about their proposal.

Amador County Board of Supervisors meeting

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 8:30 a.m.
County Administration Center, 810 Court Street, Jackson, CA

Agenda item:
Pardee Dam Expansion: Discussion and possible action relative to the proposed expansion of Pardee Dam and expansion of Pardee Reservoir as part of the East Bay Municipal Utility District 2040 water plan.

Please let you views be known.

For more information on the proposed Pardee expansion, see http://www.foothillconservancy.org/pardee. If you haven't yet sent a letter to EBMUD, do it using the information or link on that page today! If you use the river, please customize the letter and say a few things about that.

· Expanding Pardee would:

· Flood the entire Middle Bar reach of the Mokelumne River, destroying the river for whitewater recreation and stream fishing use.
· Flood the new whitewater boating takeout and parking area soon to be constructed below the Highway 49 Bridge
· Flood up to 4,000 feet of the Mokelumne Electra Run in high flow periods, leaving a dead-zone bathtub ring the rest of the year.
· Inundate the historic Middle Bar Bridge, restored by local governments just a few years ago, cutting off a critical emergency route for local residents.
· Inundate the historic and cultural resources of the Middle Bar area
· Result in eminent domain proceedings against local landowners.
· Require construction of a new Highway 49 Bridge.
· There's absolutely nothing in the EBMUD plan about providing water to Amador County from a larger Pardee Reservoir! In fact, the EIR says EBMUD will not provide water locally from Pardee.

Be green - carpool to the meetings if you can.

Please send an EIR comment letter to EBMUD
