Rally in EPA: Tenants Unite to Fight Page Mill Properties Pt. I

by Eye on East Palo Alto
Youth United for Community Action organized a rally of tenants and supporters. The march started in East Palo Alto, stopping in front of Page Mill Properties headquarters in Palo Alto, and continuing on to Congresswoman Eshoo's Office where they made their appeal to the Representative. Encouraging supporters to call Eshoo's office to complain about Page Mill Properties' tenant harassment they chanted:

A tenant shared these reflections on the event:

The YUCA kids did a bang up job. I loved being able to march with them, to follow their cheers, to be part of something that includes, but is so much bigger than my day-to-day life. ..I appreciate that there were no law enforcement issues/obstacles.

...I appreciate the public's tolerance of our noise and size. Many were smiling, waving, honking.
We were a diverse mix: participants of differing ages, from small children to Grannies, different ethnic backgrounds.

...It's hard to keep the issues fresh & current, that we tenants are facing when there isn't an immediate or huge crisis confronting all of us, but it's crucial to keep the ongoing issues in the public's view, to continue to support each other, [and] to demonstrate the connections/interrelationship many East Palo Alto tenants have w/Palo Alto.

It's shameful and reflects badly on Page Mill that none of their representatives came outside to greet us or to talk to the youth.
