Artists Call to Lift Cultural Boycott of Cuba

Thursday, March 5, 2009 :As calls grow in Washington to reconsider policy toward Cuba, over a thousand artists, musicians and teachers are campaigning for free cultural exchange and allowing Cuban artists into the US. We speak with Grammy Award-winning Cuban American musician Arturo O'Farrill of the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra; Ambassador Vicki Huddleston, former head of the US Interests Section in Havana; and human rights attorney Michael Ratner. Arturo O’Farrill, leader of the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra and founder of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. He won a Grammy Award last month for Best Latin Jazz Album.

Ambassador Vicki Huddleston, served as head of the US Interests Section in Havana from 1999 to 2002. She is now a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Michael Ratner, president of the Center for Constitutional Rights.
