San Francisco | LGBTI / QueerEve of Justice - Overturn Prop 8
Rally and march on the evening before the California Supreme Court hearing on Prop 8, the November 2008 ballot initiative banning same-sex marriage. A large and spirited crowd came out to the Castro the evening of March 4 to show their support for repeal of Prop 8.
In tomorrow's (March 5) hearing before the state Supreme Court, plaintiffs will argue that the initiative -- which took away the right to same-sex marriage established by a Supreme Court ruling in June 2008 -- is an impermissible revision to the state constitution. The key argument is that no one's civil rights should be put to a vote. The rain took a break for the duration of the rally. Must mean God Loves Fags...
