AETA 4 Updates

First of all, thanks so much to all the people who showed up today for Jake and Maryam’s court date. It really means a lot to them to know so many people support them. Their next trial date is Thursday, March 19th at San Jose District Court 280 South 1st Street San Jose, CA 95113. All four defendants will be arraigned (have their charges read to them and enter their pleas).

Update on Joseph:
Today Joseph appeared in court in San Jose, California to seek release from the halfway house. The DA argued that, even Joseph is married and would be able to live in a house owned by his wife’s family, he is a flight risk. Unfortunately the judge agreed with the DA and ordered Joseph be returned to the halfway house.

The judge did leave room for Joseph’s release, however. Joseph’s mother-in-law will appear in court early next month on his behalf to assure the judge that he would be living in the house she owns. Luckily, she is willing to be his “custodial” person.

Joseph is also no longer allowed to receive outside food. His lawyer tried to bring him in some food today and was forced to leave by Joseph’s caseworker. His caseworker then forbid his lawyer from returning to the halfway house. This issue has, hopefully, been resolved by Pre Trial Services.

The halfway house claims they are serving Joseph vegan food, but often it is only vegetarian which he is unable to eat.

Please call the halfway house at 415-346-9769 and demand he be given a proper vegan meal!

Lastly, Joseph thanks everyone for their support. It keeps him strong knowing there are so many people on his side.

Apparently Nate and Adriana were released this morning and are supposed to make their own way back to California. This was just told to us by another defendant’s lawyer so we will let you know when we have more information.
