Citizen Diplomacy in Action
An Evening Round Table with
Mustafa Ghazwan’s father Ghazwan al-Nidawi
Cole Miller, No More Victims
Rana Madanat, Growing With Books
Ruth Friend, Ruth Group
Moderator: David Harris
Please join us in welcoming 3 year old Mustafa Ghazwan and his father Ghazwan al-Nidawi, University Professor of Media and Public Relations at Bagdad University. Listen to their compelling story of life in Iraq before and after 2003 and their eventual trip to the US for medical care sponsored by No More Victims. Meet Cole Miller, founder of No More Victims.
Also joining our panel will be Rana Madanat, a local Jordanian, building libraries for children in Jordan, and Ruth Friend of Ruth Group.
Audience participation is welcome.
As our community effort in citizen diplomacy, Ruth Group sponsored Mustafa to come from Iraq to the US for medical care through the organization No More Victims. UCSF doctors were found with the help of the Iraq Action Group at UCSF and Westminster Presbyterian Church donated funds for Mustafa’s speech therapy. Many of you also contributed time and funds to make this happen. Our collaboration has grown exponentially since Mustafa and Ghazwan’s arrival and their story is both heartwarming and devastating. Our circle is ever widening, and we have been wonderfully surprised at how many Middle Eastern friends we have here in our local community. We hope this evening will contribute to widening the circle to include you.
