East Bay | Racial JusticeFamilies of victims of police murder join call for Feb. 6 protest and demand march permits
In the face of massive outrage over the murder of Oscar Grant, and an epidemic of police brutality, the City of Oakland is again targeting those fighting for justice. The City of Oakland is giving the families of those killed by police and others only one hour to express their rage and grief, and is so far denying a march permit. This is yet another outrage. This Friday, February 6, people from all walks of life, including relatives of victims of police murder and brutality will gather at 3pm at Frank Ogawa Plaza at 14th and Broadway in downtown Oakland for a spirited, determined and organized Rally and March of Stolen Lives, declaring Enough is Enough. Justice for Oscar Grant. The Whole Damn System is Guilty.
The families of victims of police murder and others will speak – and their stories must be heard. The murder of loved ones has forced relatives to endure a lifetime of indescribable suffering, yet the City of Oakland is giving them and others only one hour to express their rage and grief, and is so far denying a march permit.
