Basically, the rally went from about 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Powell and Market, then we marched to the Civic Center. The January 4 noon rally was announced on Flashpoints special broadcast on KPFA, 94.1 FM, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The person announcing it said San Francisco, but since that was the only announcement, perhaps she meant San Jose, which rally seems to be certain. The mentally ill Zionist flag wavers amounted to 1 in number who stood for a while across the street and then disappeared. As to non-flag waving, mentally ill warmongers, early in the demonstration, one hard-faced Zionist man stated loudly "the only good Palestinian is a dead Palestinian" and then walked away. One female shopper walked by and screamed that we do not know the facts at which point we replied with the facts. The most disturbing was the complete refusal to stop and listen or participate in the rally on the part of the shoppers and tourists, most of whom were young, facing no adequate schools, healthcare, housing or pensions.

We had about 500 people, mostly Arab Americans, which is good, but we American taxpayers give the US military base, Israel, $15 million a day to murder Palestinians to make the war and oil profiteers richer while we have no education, housing, healthcare or pensions and that is why we need HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN TAXPAYERS AT THE RALLY ON JANUARY 10 AT 11 A.M. AT THE SAN FRANCISCO CIVIC CENTER, A PART OF A NATIONWIDE ACTION. See http://answer.pephost.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ANS_homepage
WE ALSO NEED ON JANUARY 10:
(1) INFORMATION LEAFLETS
Lots of leaflets explaining the above facts to the taxpayers as most of the American taxpayers shopping and waiting for the cable car ride seemed to have no concept of why we were protesting and were not even moved to stop, listen and learn by the desperate pleas from the many outstanding young people who spoke on the loudspeaker. Their voices were so heartbreaking, it is incomprehensible how anyone can ignore their protests at the horror of war. We have a mental illness in this country called shopping and tourist thrills, like the 19th century cable car nonsense, which have absolutely no meaning in the face of war. One good taxpayer leaflet that should be sidely distributed is the War Resister's Pie Chart, page 1, at:
http://www.warresisters.org/pages/piechart.htm
If you can afford it, print it and have as many copies of it made as you can afford.

2) LOTS OF POSTERS WITH PHOTOGRAPHS OF DEAD AND WOUNDED PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS. Americans are very TV-picture oriented, which accounts for such massive ignorance as most learning is from reading. At least 2 people had excellent posters with a collage of these kinds of photos in color, with the blood and injuries clearly visible. We need lots of these kinds of photo collage posterrs.

3) THE SPEECHES MUST BE INFORMATIVE. We, supporters, all love the chants, but we must teach the American taxpayers as quickly as possible the 111 year history of Zionism, the 61 year history of Zionist occupation, the theft of our tax dollars to the tune of $15 million a day, $6 billion a year while we have a declining economy at home, and the perpetrators of that theft, all elected Democratic and Republican Party officials at all levels of office. We must also teach American voters to vote socialist (Peace & Freedom) or Green to put an end to this madness. Some talking points are found at:

"Gaza: The Latest Installment of 111 Years of Zionist Settler Colonialism"
http://www.pslweb.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=10867&news_iv_ctrl=1037

4) As many people of Jewish descent, whether atheist or not, to come to the January 10 rally. This helps stop the fear of being called anti-Semitic on the part of those who are not Jewish, which probably accounts for most of the reluctance to deal with this issue among Americans who claim to believe in the Christian superstition. People need to be told that there are Jewish fascists, the Zionists, just as there are Christian fascists. Fascism is not limited to a superstition; it is a political ideology that is used to promote the profit motive of capitalism, the primary law and goal of capitalism being to maximize profits. People also need to be told that thousands of Israelis are protesting this latest massacre. See

John Lennon's videos about War is Over seems appropriate to include here.

An excellent summary of Israeli protests against the Gaza genocide may be found on Al Jazeera, Jan 4, 2009 at
http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/01/200913202712466579.html
You can hear the Flashpoints Special on Radio 2050, the host program heard on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. on KPFA, 94.1 FM, at
http://kpfa.org/archives/index.php?arch=30264
The person in Gaza being interviewed says there is strange smell of gas from these boms, all paid for with US tax dollars, to the tune of $15 million per day. More on illegal phosphorous bombs being used by Israel in this illegal invasion and occupation of Gaza may be found at:

The Daily Mail's article has a good picture of dead babies that could be used for a photo collage for our demonstrations, starting with the January 10 demo in SF at the Civic Center at 11 a.m. Please be there.
