A Press Conference was held on Monday, December 15 to alert the community to a hearing that will be held on Wednesday that could result in the re-opening of Cottonwood Creek, who neighbors say releases a horrible smell when it is operating.

Stop the SMELL From Coming Back Into Our Neighborhood!!! Dear Community, Cottonwood Creek LLC, located at 620 W. Church Avenue, is working a silent deal with the city to re-open their toxic and smelly dairy waste processing plant next to Darling International. Cottonwood Creek’s CUP (Conditional use permit) has already been revoked due to the pollution and possible hasardous odors they were releasing into the air, without the concern of the community. Our community has suffered enough with the smell for years, and does not deserve this type of treatment just because we are on the poverty stricken Westside! This property is owned by the city, which means the city is making money by leasing their property to a company that is polluting our neighborhood. The City Hall Meeting is scheduled for December 17 at 6 PM at Fresno City Hall for the Cottonwood Creek issue, but the lawyers from Cottonwood Creek and the City Attorney are already having meetings to come to an agreement to let Cottonwood Creek operate once again. We must all address our concerns to the city and the community to make aware and to stop Cottonwood Creek from re-opening. Don’t let the city make money off of our health and welfare here in the Westside! Call the City and let your voice be heard: (559) 261-8000 |
