Iraq veteran Andre Shepherd went AWOL from his base in Ansbach, Germany, rather than redeploy to a war he believes is illegal and immoral. On November 26, 2008, he applied to the German government for refugee status. He is the first Iraq vet to seek asylum in Europe. He spoke with Courage to Resist from his home in Germany. 23:31
