Iraq Veterans Against the War Brings the War to Downtown San Francisco
Members of IVAW invaded Union Square on the busiest shopping day of the year to bring attention to the war and occupation of Iraq
As the war and occupation moves towards its sixth anniversary it is hardly mentioned these days in the corporate media. For the people of Iraq the terror of 160,000 U.S. soldiers occupying their country the war is an everyday reality. Thousands of people who had come to the Union Square commercial district the day after thanksgiving the Iraq war was brought back to their attention by dramatic street theater acted out by IVAW members and many supporters who acted as people arbitrarily detained and arrested and tortured.
