Proud LMNOP member William Lloyd Booth, R.I.P.
William Lloyd Booth would proudly display his IMPEACH signs at the weekly Lake Merritt Neighbors Organized for Peace walks. His optimistic spirit will be missed.
Lake Merrit Neigbhors Organized for Peace recently received this message:
Remembering BILL BOOTH, our companion at the Lake
WILLIAM LLOYD BOOTH
May 8, 1924- September 24, 2008
Architect, inventor, activist and avid sailor William Lloyd Booth died at home in Berkeley on September 24. He was 84.
Born in Geneseo, NY he was the youngest of three children. He came from a family of artists. His mother Salome Beckwith Booth was the first woman to teach at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Unable to enlist due to asthma, he served in the Merchant Marines During WWII. He returned to marry and have two daughters, .and later divorced. In 1974 He and new partner Margery Meisels lived on a hayscow adaptation that he designed and they built together. Weary of mold and damp, she lured him to sunny La Paz, BCS, Mexico where they lived for 20 years. Bill and Margery built a soaring and light filled dream house. He built a sail boat with beautiful lines which he sailed in the Sea of Cortez. He and Margery enjoyed a rich social life with many friends in walking distance.
A lifelong social activist, in 1965 he helped rebuild churches in Mississippi. He was arrested several times for his anti-war and anti-nuclear activism.
Several years ago they returned to the Bay Area to be with family and until recently they walked on Sundays with the Lake Merritt Peace Group
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margery, his daughters Jennifer Henerlau (Eric) and Nancy Englund (Robert), step children Dana Elliott and Loren Elliott, and grand children Richard and Stephanie Henerlau.
In his memory contributions can be made to KPFA Listener supported Radio,1929 MLK Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA 94704 or the San Francisco Mime Troupe, America's Theater of Political Comedy, 855 Treat Ave, San Francisco, CA 94110

I will be doing some traveling and hope to join you again in the spring. I don't drive, but believe a bus comes near the Colonnade. I will try to get any relevant signs to someone. I guess the war is still relevant until Barack brings troops back.
My warmest greetings to the group, Love, Margery
