President Elect Barack Obama and we can make any change - together as a Nation

by Francisco Da Costa
Today, history was made when this Nation cast aside the fear of the past two hundred years and put HOPE in a man to take this Nation - away from the woes of yester years to a better - tomorrow. We, now have a leader that can unite this Nation. Take our Nation to a better place. We must not be divisive - especially, now that we have a leader who has a vision and has said that he needs our help. Together we can make a change and put this Nation back on track.
All over the world - millions of people are rejoicing for this moment in history. We have elected a leader to bring and more send good tidings all over this world - we have found a just and fair man in Barack Obama.

Years ago - when things were difficult a man set foot on American soil and met a White woman and brought forth a child called Barack Obama. The woman was from a small town in Kansas and the man - a Kenyan, also from a small village.

Today, this man has been elected - President Elect and brought to fruition a dream and a vision - that baffles many but in fact is a reality.

Three years ago if you mentioned the name Barack Obama and said that he would be the President of the United States of America - people would not believe you.

Two years ago - if you said that Barack Obama would win the primaries in Ohio - people would not believe you.

Today, history has been made in circumstance that are very complicated but tell the story of human endurance - a leader has been elected.

Recently, the grandmother of Barack Obama passed away - she was his love and life - this woman unknown to many - left a mark on Barack Obama. From on high she will see that her grandson - guides and brings solace to her and to many.

Today, Barack Obama would have loved to be with his father - but he died in Kenya in a car crash. He would have loved to be with his mother - but she passed away - a victim of cancer.

These personal scars have left a deep impression on Barack Obama - made him very sensitive to all that he comes in contact with.

He put forth the best organization - used cyber space - the youth - and took these Election into an orbit - never, ever ventured by anyone in recent or past history. Kudos to the team that put this great organization and logistics together.

Today, we have President Elect - Barack Obama, who embraces people of all faiths, people of all life styles, people Physically Challenged and those that are fine. We - have a President Elect who wants everyone on board - because his really sees the rainbow and want to bring real - change.

Once, we had a leader who sought to bring unity and promised to us that all would be well. He fought hard but died when he was shot and killed - we know him as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He died young but he planted the seed.

Before Dr.King many great leaders suffered and died to bring unity and defeat racism. The Native Americans today live on Reservations and this is not right.

Never, ever has in the history of this Nation a leader promised to unite the Nation - while pointing to the history that left out those that sacrificed so much for this Nation. President Elect took us on a tour and has promised to do his best - not alone but with our help.

The thousands that united to hear the speech in Chicago were from all races and a genuine rainbow - for all the world to see. The tears of joy - were captured for all of us to see - but what we really could not feel were those deep wounds that were healed - the minute we found out that we has at last found HOPE.

Today, we know we have a leader but in knowing and accepting a leader - we must unite to undo the woes of the past administration.

Too many folks do not have good jobs. The economic situation linked to our trillions of dollars in debt - cannot be worked out without much sacrifice. We must first take care of our people at home - and stop messing with lives our our soldiers and people in far off lands - that we have no business messing with.

Racism is alive in some quarters - and as much as some of us want to believe that San Francisco is a liberal city - we have a type of racism here - that smiles on your face and stabs you in the back. Among them the Pacific Height Mafia that have aided and abetted the bombardment of our children in the Bayview Hunters Point.

Our President Elect once fought those that adversely impacted poor people in Public Housing - these folks were the victims of Asbestos in Chicago. We have a similar situation in the Bayview Hunters Point and want President Elect Barack Obama to see to this situation.

We have faith that change will be made when those that help a rogue company called Lennar are taken to task. That those Representatives that did harm to the people are questioned.

We have backed the President Elect when most people did not take a stand.

We projected a huge win and knew that deep in our hearts - this was our hope for justice.

We have connections and can have access to the White House - our plea is that what is happening in San Francisco with the help of the Pacific Heights Mafia - is investigated and those culprits brought to task.

Today, history has been made and the world is looking for hope and justice.

In our own back yard we are organized and waiting for the clarion call to do the right thing.

We will fight for our children and elders and bring about a change. We will bring it with those that promised change - we look for solutions and we are prepared to make any sacrifice.
