"Camera lady" is UC police chief Victoria Harrison. She spent the day filming everyone and chatted on her cell phone with the other bored UC cops. Way to go with that 2.1 million severance package. Glad to see they're putting it to good use spying on demonstrators as they leaflet. One of the undercovers behind the fence is UC cop Tejada. Not sure who the older undercover is.

The lady in the light blue shirt is a CSO, not the UC Police Chief.
The undercover cop in the hooded sweatshirt and shades is UC police officer Zuniga, not Tejada. My mistake.
With every day, UC looses so much of its image as an institution of progressive thought on social issues. It defends the undefendable. It attacks. Why did they hire John Yoo. For prestige? Why do they do unneccesary and cruel things to animals? For money and power? This is a sad place today with an administration that has a police state mentality. What a shame.
The status given to torture advocate John Yoo (third tier reason for U.S. invasion of Iraq results from torture of senior al Queda opertive al Libby to 'confess' that Saddam worked together with al Queda, even though this was fabricated, saying this made the pain of torture stop for al Libby and the CIA got their "evidence", used as another excuse along with missing WMDs to invade and occupy Iraq) by UC Berkeley is an indication of where their morals and ethics are currently located, in a place that would make a shitty toilet bowl look sparkling clean!!
On the other hand, UC Berkeley chose to deny tenure to Ignacio Chapela, the professor who discovered the contamination of Oaxacan maize (corn) with genetically engineered (GE/GMO) pollen from U.S. biotech's corporate corn imported under WTO/NAFTA free trade policies..
Hmmm, hire and elevate the position of a professor who advocates torture and fire a professor who exposes contamination of indigenous Oaxacan maize from biotech corporations. Sounds like UC Berkeley administration is catering to some powerful corporate lobbyists..
Then there's the UC Berkeley ordered killing and clearcutting of the memorial stadium oak grove to build a expensive training gym on top of a known fault line without bothering to retrofit the stadium behind the gym, another recipe for disaster and loss of innocent life; humans, trees and others..
Then there's the improper storage by UC Berkeley Anthro Dept. of human remains, the skeletons and skulls of indigenous peoples kept scattered in disarry of labeling boxes and other insults to indigenous peoples whose burial customs are violated..
The animal testing at UC Berkeley is just a foot in the door for big Pharma and other similar corporations looking to put potentially dangerous products on the market without really bothering to find out what happens to humans. Not only is animal testing cruel and hurtful to animals that are capable of experiencing pain, depression and other forms of inflicted trauma, animal testing is dangerous and inaccurate if results are interpreted to apply to humans..
Thalidomide anyone? There's also plenty of newer drugs that got past pharma's research and development phase after some animal tests and then were quickly and quietly pulled off the market after people experienced severe and sometimes deadly side effects. Victims were compensated by the corporations with the understanding that they "shut up about it", as Bill O'Reilly would say..
Then there's UC Berkeley's Lawrence Livermore labs where untold and undisclosed amounts of radiation enter the atmosphere daily under normal operating conditions and risk of a meltdown during an accident and/or seismic event remain a reality for nearby residents. Participation in the U.S. military industrial complex by engaging in nuclear weapons experimentation isn't good for their karma either..
Work for the Great Satan (aka U.S. Empire), die along with the Great Satan when the collapse finally comes, Allah willing!!
Something new besides John Yoo, nukes and animal torture is needed in the realm of higher education for students. UC Berkeley is another sad example of another failing corporatist state's institutions gradually goosestepping their way into fascism..
The institution known as UC Berkeley can burn to the ground for all i care, they're good as dead to me..
People and students want to be free, and for them UC Berkeley is not a good place to be..
