With every day, UC looses so much of its image as an institution of progressive thought on social issues. It defends the undefendable. It attacks. Why did they hire John Yoo. For prestige? Why do they do unneccesary and cruel things to animals? For money and power? This is a sad place today with an administration that has a police state mentality. What a shame.

Hmmm, hire and elevate the position of a professor who advocates torture and fire a professor who exposes contamination of indigenous Oaxacan maize from biotech corporations. Sounds like UC Berkeley administration is catering to some powerful corporate lobbyists..

Then there's the UC Berkeley ordered killing and clearcutting of the memorial stadium oak grove to build a expensive training gym on top of a known fault line without bothering to retrofit the stadium behind the gym, another recipe for disaster and loss of innocent life; humans, trees and others..

Then there's the improper storage by UC Berkeley Anthro Dept. of human remains, the skeletons and skulls of indigenous peoples kept scattered in disarry of labeling boxes and other insults to indigenous peoples whose burial customs are violated..

The animal testing at UC Berkeley is just a foot in the door for big Pharma and other similar corporations looking to put potentially dangerous products on the market without really bothering to find out what happens to humans. Something new besides John Yoo, nukes and animal torture is needed in the realm of higher education for students. UC Berkeley is another sad example of another failing corporatist state's institutions gradually goosestepping their way into fascism..
