Island Mountain Quarry Will Destroy Eel River

by brightpathvideo
Island Mountain Quarry is the real cost of Marin and Sonoma's Train, measure Q. Environmental destruction of gigantic proportions will result if the quarry is allowed to operate. Kill it's sister operation, the SMART Tax ballot measure in Marin and Sonoma, by voting NO on Q.

Island Mountain Quarry is at the epicenter of a plan to restore rail service from Eureka California to Novato California and points east. Under the proposal of the plans author, NCRA (North Coast Railroad Authority) 6 million tons of gravel would be mined each year on the banks of the National Wild and Scenic river, the Eel River in Northwestern California. This would be the largest open pit mine on a US wild and scenic river. The environmental destruction that would result as a consequence of this operation would be catastrophic. A train (Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit) running in Marin and Sonoma counties has direct ties to NCRA's train proposal. Stop measure Q by voting "NO" on Q.
