Come write letters of support to the troops who are refusing to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. Robin Long, recently deported from Canada, is facing a 15-month sentence and dishonorable discharge for refusing to fight in Iraq. James Burmeister, who was deployed in Baghdad and suffered physical and emotional wounds from an IED explosion, refused to re-deploy to Iraq and was sentenced to six months in the brig. Robert Weiss, former soldier who refused to board a plane to Iraq, is serving a seven-month sentence in Germany. Countless other war resisters sit in prison for their brave refusal to fight, and many more face imminent court martial and confinement. It is vital that we show support for the the troops who are standing up to unjust war and occupation. We must let them know that they are not alone.
We will provide letter-writing materials, as well as some delicious snacks. All are welcome to attend. Hope to see you there!
