This summer, actor Mike Farrell (M*A*S*H, Desperate Housewives, etc.) completed an 8,000-mile, 25 city book tour to promote the publication of the paperback edition of his memoir, which includes a new introduction by Martin Sheen. He visited every area of the nation except for the Pacific coast--happily, he's decided to extend his tour for an event in Capitola, California:

--Tues., September 30, 7:30pm--CAPITOLA, CA--Capitola Bookstore and Cafe, 1475 41st Ave.

After gaining international stardom for his role as B.J. Hunnicutt in the much-beloved television series M*A*S*H, Mike Farrell embarked upon a more arduous and ultimately rewarding path into the world’s social consciousness: as a tireless human rights advocate. Amply demonstrated in this boundlessly optimistic narrative, Mr. Farrell’s growing celebrity as an actor, writer, producer, and director puts him in the unique position to witness, and participate in, the efforts of peace-workers at home and throughout the world.

A rare celebrity couple who makes headlines for the right reasons, Mike and his wife, actress Shelley Fabares (Coach), will drive themselves on this supplemental tour, and will be networking with the human rights organizations that will be sponsoring each event along the way. Judging from past events, Mr. Farrell enters every community prepared to speak off-the-cuff, encouraging each audience to guide him to whatever topic most interests it. From memories of M*A*S*H and Providence—and stories from his current, recurring role on the hit television program Desperate Housewives—to heated debates on the Death Penalty, environmental causes, international human rights abuses, gay rights, and election politics, Mr. Farrell can speak with a moments notice to any of the complex issues covered in his book.

His respectful charm proves more than capable of handling even the most antagonistic of questioners, and, in select ’07 events following the release of the hardcover edition of Just Call Me Mike, he left every community feeling inspired and appreciative that he’d come through it. Additionally, Mr. Farrell entered each town in the spotlight, garnering interest from nearly every local media outlet and selflessly shifting the spotlight from himself to the causes he promotes.
