A number of unions have recently implemented service call centers for members to call for contract questions, pension and health plan questions and grievances. Proponents argue that limited union resources must be redirected towards organizing. Critics argue that internal organizing opportunities are lost when workers use call centers, and that call centers will encourage a culture that treats members as consumers rather than cultivates them as leaders. Find out what motivated some Internationals to adopt the new representation model and what they are experiencing in the field.
