Santa Cruz Indymedia | Education & Student Activism | Labor & WorkersDAY 5 of AFSCME HUELGA at ucsc
This is sad... the last day of the AFSCME STRIKE throughout the state of California is today. But there were close to 50 students that joined us from Sonoma County High Schools, and hundreds and hundreds of united workers that are ready to do whatever it takes to win a FAIR CONTRACT! This STRIKE statewide showed that we are united as workers, and even with most of our UC student supporters gone for the summer-- we showed how strong union power can look like, and we got the youth involved from Sonoma to demonstrate that. Check images and videos below to see how Students and Workers United for Justice looks like at ucsc. ![]() dsc01488.jpg

El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido!
and like always the youth, the new generation, and the future leaders of our communities stepping in it up like always... stay tune to hopefully some good news and some progress in our fair contract fight...The UC is getting pressure from every direction: the Workers, the UC students, high school students, middle school students, AVANCE/YO PUEDO students, politicians, community leaders, religious leaders, and hopefully you soon. E-mail Mark Yudof, the new UC Office of the President (UCOP) President and tell him that UC Service and Patient Care Workers need and deserve a fair contract now!- president [at] ucop.edu.
