It should not be limited to battery power. Anything that can be produced at a nuclear power plant and stuffed into cars -- electricity, clean synthetic fuel -- should qualify.
Gasoline and diesel fuel tax is still bringing in, in the USA, close to two billion dollars a week. So government certainly could spend many billions of dollars in such a way as to cancel itself; it could spent fuel revenue to annihilate fuel revenue. This is less likely than tomorrow's sunrise being half an hour late. An oil company would be more likely to spend oil revenue in this way than a government. |
