San Francisco | Health, Housing, and Public ServicesHealth Care Rally for Single Payer Plan Pt. I
Outside Moscone West yesterday, performers entertained ahead of speakers for a Single Payer Health Care Plan. Yesterday executives of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) met with top political and policy advisors of both parties to create "universal healthcare" by forcing everyone to buy private health insurance. This means everyone pays unaffordable premiums, deductibles, and co-pays. It's welfare for insurance companies~!
Outside Moscone Center the Raging Grannies led off a protest attended by 2,500+ with health care songs (reprinted below). A New Orleans style jazz band marched down the street just as the Grannies wound up their version of Saints Come Marchin' In. Demonstrators joined them in singing the lyrics about SB840, the California State Bill for single payer healthcare, and HR 676, the plan for the nation! §Rehearsing Outside Moscone West
The temperature soared to 85 degrees and when the Grannies sought a little shade for a rehearsal Moscone Center security shooed them away from the front steps.

Dennis represents United Educators of San Francisco, one of the sponsors of the rally. Rocky is City Attorney of Los Angeles. His office is suing the insurance companies! |
