WHAT'S BEHIND THE SKYROCKETING GAS PRICES?
The same big oil companies that are profiting from the Iraq war have jacked up the price of gas and diesel to record highs. San Francisco recently experienced the largest price spike in the country, and the trend will continue. What is the story behind these rising prices? Who controls prices and who is reaping the profits? In 2007 alone, the top five biggest oil companies made $123.3 billion, with Exxon leading the pack with $40 billion -- the highest corporate profits in U.S. history. The government says that nothing can be done, but that isn't true. What actually can be done in the short and the long term? Join us for reports and discussion about the history of the oil industry, the current rise in oil prices and solutions to this crisis.
