Friends,
As some of you may have heard, there are apparently DEA raids happening in a variety
of locations across the state today. We have confirmation that Richmond's Hilltop
MCD was raided and is
currently closed, as well as Holistic Solutions in Clearlake. Conflicting press and
eyewitness reports at this time; it is unclear the extent of these actions, or
whether they are in fact all related, or merely coordinated but separate events. It
is not clear that all of the raids are medical-cannabis-related. However, the
activity seems to be extensive. As you check the news today and in coming days,
please remember that in such cases, the media often rely on DEA-generated press
releases for information.
There was good news today, too, however. Assembly Bill 2279 passed and is on its way
to the State Senate! This is the bill which would prevent employers from
discriminating against patients who test positive for marijuana use. This just
happened, and the first ASA notice about it is below.
Be well,

The CA Assembly just voted on AB 2279, and it passed. Introduced by
Assemblymember Mark Leno, 2279 is the ASA-sponsored legislation to
protect medical marijuana patients' rights to work. You can find out
more about the bill at http://www.AmericansForSafeAccess.org/AB2279
Thanks to everyone who contacted their assembly members to encourage
them to vote for the bill! The next stop is the State Senate.
