We are entering a critical political battle in California. The June 3 Primary
Election is less than a month away and has so much at stake for our community.
This election will determine if we continue to have a Legislature that will pass
laws supporting equal rights (including marriage) for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) community.
In this election season alone, California will lose 20 pro-marriage votes in the
Legislature due to term limits. Some of those retiring lawmakers are our best
personal advocates -- members of the LGBT Legislative Caucus. That is why Equality
California's Political Action Committee is making this election a top priority by
endorsing 53 pro-equality candidates running for the California Legislature on June
3. And for the first time, the PAC has endorsed a judicial candidate, Victoria
Kolakowski, who would become California's first openly transgender Superior Court
judge.

An EQCA PAC endorsement is one you can trust. We only endorse candidates who support
complete equality for the entire LGBT community and stand with us 100 percent of the
time.

Across California, the PAC has endorsed LGBT candidates who are vying for Assembly
seats. In Northern California, the PAC endorses San Francisco Supervisor Tom
Ammiano, West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon and Berkeley City Councilmember
Kriss Worthington. In Southern California, the PAC endorses former Deputy State
Controller Laurette Healey, former Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency
Commissioner John Perez, Cathedral City Councilmember Greg Pettis. Pettis is facing
two opponents who do not support true LGBT equality.
In San Diego, the PAC has endorsed incumbent Christine Kehoe for the Senate District
39 race. Sen. Kehoe is a current member of the LGBT Legislative Caucus. The PAC has
also endorsed Assembly candidate Marty Block, a former dean of San Diego State
University, who is also running against a candidate that does not support true LGBT
equality.
In a time when our community is under attack -- literally -- every day by anti-gay
activists who want to treat us like second-class citizens, voting for pro-equality
candidates is more critical than ever.
Please join our PAC in voting for equality on June 3.
Warmly,
Geoff Kors
