Become A Tree Sitter in The Oak Grove
Come to an orientation about the Oak Grove tree sit during the People's Park anniversary celebration on Sunday.
On (this) Sunday, April 27 there will be an orientation about the Oak Grove tree sit in People's Park in Berkeley. The tree sit is very exciting and has been going for more than 500 days - the longest urban tree sit ever. As it is in the city there are opportunities to visit it that one does not get in tree sits in wilderness areas. The police have tried to stop this with several fences and by posting security guards. This does not stop you from being able to visit legally on the sidewalk, or from ignoring the law and climbing into the grove to stay for as long as you want. New tree sitters are greatly encouraged.
People's Park is having its 39th anniversary party this Sunday from 12 to 6:00. For more info see: http://www.peoplespark.org/ . There will be music food and friends. Come on by and learn about the grove or arrange for a visit to the canopy. We will have a "Save the Oaks" banner.
I was able to hand my camera up to the tree sitters and here are some pictures that they took. And imagine, you could soon call these leafy boughs home.
