Two outstanding writers offer their views on how progressives can forge an alliance against war. The Republicans promise more war. Leading Democrats, while talking peace, have not firmly committed to withdrawing US troops from occupied Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the major media misreport the wars and the reasons for them.
Reese Erlich is a freelance correspondent for CBC (Canada), U.S. public radio and most recently author of The Iran Agenda: The Real Story of US Policy and the Middle East Crisis
Norman Solomon is a nationally syndicated columnist on media and politics. He has been writing the weekly "Media Beat" column since 1992. Solomon's book War Made Easy, published in 2005, was called "brutally persuasive" and "a must-read" by the Los Angeles Times. A documentary based on the book was released in 2007. His latest book is Made Love, Got War: Close Encounters With America's Warfare State.
Erlich and Solomon co-authored Target Iraq: What the News Media Didn't Tell You, which has been published in German, Italian, Hungarian, Brazilian and South Korean editions.
