Smadar Lavie is the Hubert H. Humphrey Distinguished Visiting
Professor of the Arab and Muslim World at Macalester College. A public
intellectual whose anti-racist and feminist writings, teaching, and
activism have inspired students, scholars, and activists in
Israel/Palestine, the Middle East, and around the world, Smadar Lavie
is author of The Poetics of Military Occupation: Mzeina Allegories of
Bedouin Identity Under Israeli and Egyptian Rule.
