It is obvious to me that you are the paranoid sort. I don't know if you understand anything about modern warfare, but if the Marines don't get this kind of training, then they are more likely to be killed when they are in a situation such as a city. Fighting a war in a city is a very different experience than in the open field or any other terrain. This is not a pre-martial law operation I can assure you that. As a Marine (former, but once a Marine, always a Marine) I can tell you that this is vital training at any angle you look at it. The fact that the mayor was not properly notified is one thing, but to think this is a show of what things are to come is ridiculous. Best in the world huh....then why was it that when the american marines used an assault course belonging to the french foreign legion in a jungle training camp it took eight hours for them to get through it. I can guarantee you that if placed in a position where I had to defend my country against any enemy foreign or DOMESTIC that I would be well prepared to do so. If what you are saying is true, then tell me how prepared you are to fight? We do have the best fighting forces in the world. I am not just talking the Marines either. The average citizen of the United States is far more armed than any country in the world per capita. There are people in this country that will honor and defend it until the end. it is true that as a normal part of a Marine survey, initially designed during Gulf War I, questions asking how far a Marine would go to follow an order that might go against the values they were born with.
