Marine exercise in Toledo Ohio: an attack on democratic rights

The conditioning of both the public and the soldiers continues. The ultimate goal is the US army attacking non-compliant US citizens. Ignoring Posse Comitatus, yet another infringement on our rights by the gov't. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.

When 911 pt2 is put in place, is blamed on and as a pretext for an attack on Iran & Syria martial law will be imposed, gun consification will be the norm as will forced relocation. US troops shooting US citizens. Bush has promised he will "deal with Iran" before he leaves office. Under martial law all elections are suspended, making Bush the diktator for as long as he sees fit as commander in chief in a time of war. Perpetual war, perpetual Bush. If you remeber the anthrax attacks following 911, you will need to know that the particular strain of anthrax was traced back to a US bioweapons lab, I wonder where they will trace the plutonium to, Lawrence Livermore???

It is obvious to me that you are the paranoid sort. I don't know if you understand anything about modern warfare, but if the Marines don't get this kind of training, then they are more likely to be killed when they are in a situation such as a city. Fighting a war in a city is a very different experience than in the open field or any other terrain. This is not a pre-martial law operation I can assure you that. As a Marine (former, but once a Marine, always a Marine) I can tell you that this is vital training at any angle you look at it. The fact that the mayor was not properly notified is one thing, but to think this is a show of what things are to come is ridiculous. The Marine Corps is the best fighting force in the world because we train like no other force does.

For the last 5yrs your "best fighting force in the world" has been getting a flogging from a stone age nation, disarmed by two wars in 15yrs and 10 years of inhuman sanctions. Best in the world huh....then why was it that when the american marines used an assault course belonging to the french foreign legion in a jungle training camp it took eight hours for them to get through it. (thick, chest deep mud, combined with obstacles requiring teamwork to negotiate) The foreign legionarres are put on charges if it takes longer than an hour and it is normally completed in 45mins. you are not the best in the world by a long shot. worlds longest sniper shot belongs to canada 2.4km 2400meters. no once again all america is good at is spouting hubris and making claims that are patently untrue. with the removal of the posse comentatus it is obvious that the american military is going to be turned against the population at large during some sort of artificial contrived emergency. youll find out yourself then just how bad all military assets are anywhere in the world. welkom to kamp amerika its all yours!!

I left Toledo due to it's inabilty to provide jobs for the local
workforce.. There has always been a police-state undertow there.
I have returned many times and see the tyranny strengthening.
I am happy the Mayor put the screws to the military

It is interesting that you say that I have been trained to be incapable of thinking on my own. First of all you don't anything about me. Second, if you believe everything you read on the Internet, then you need to have your eyes wide opened more. I can guarantee you that if placed in a position where I had to defend my country against any enemy foreign or DOMESTIC that I would be well prepared to do so. If what you are saying is true, then tell me how prepared you are to fight? We do have the best fighting forces in the world. I am not just talking the Marines either. The average citizen of the United States is far more armed than any country in the world per capita. There are people in this country that will honor and defend it until the end. I hope you are one of those people. Otherwise, shut up and hide in a dark whole until the real men have defend your freedom. Don't sit here and complain about it, do something.

The problem is that people obsess too much over party politics. The country is run by people who don't give a rats ass about on party or the other, only about power and they will use anyone of any party for that purpose. That's why no matter who you vote for, the same policies get elected.

We need to get back to a Police Force that is there to protect and not to control lives. Things have gotten way out of control. Could it be that 911 was created as a way to do away with FREEDOM? it is true that as a normal part of a Marine survey, initially designed during Gulf War I, questions asking how far a Marine would go to follow an order that might go against the values they were born with. Among those questions was the query "In the event that martial law is declared, would you fire upon an American citizen on American soil if so ordered?" Initially the answers showed a strong negative reaction to the thought, but gradually the answers changed. Its not so outlandish, as today we're taught to distrust our fellow Americans because they may be domestic terrorists. As these young soldier boys and baby Marines get better at following orders after hours of drill time and indoctrination into military culture, these men become Warriors first and Americans second. Many who serve have little respect for civilians, and I remember a time where civilians were held in high regard as the entire reason for service.
