At least 62 people have been killed and scores more have been injured in two explosions in Algeria's capital, security sources say. One explosion rocked an area near the constitutional court in Algiers on Tuesday, while another blast occurred near a United Nations building in the district of Hydra.

Witnesses said that the explosion near the constitutional court hit a school bus. Car bombs, at least one of which was set off by a suicide bomber, were behind the blasts, Yazid Zerhouni, Algeria's interior minister, said.

"For the attack which took place outside (the UN building) it seems that it was carried out by a suicide bomber," he said.

Dozens were wounded in the explosions, officials said.
