Haiti: Crowds Cheer Persecuted Priest Gerald Jean-Juste

by HaitiAnalysis
On Monday, November 26th, 2007, large crowds gathered in front of the court of appeals in Port-au-Prince where activist and priest Gerald Jean-Juste appeared before Judge Liz Pierre Pierre.

When the judge questioned him about two bogus charges, he now famously responded that "my bible and my rosary are my guns." The government prosecutor has asked that the charges be dropped as no evidence has been presented and it is widely recognized that the charges brought against him by the former unelected interim government were politically motivated in order to silence him.
