Palestinain Legislative Council criminalizes concession of Palestinian legal rights
[ 27/11/2007 - 12:42 PM ] ![]() pic.jpg All members of the reform and change bloc in the PLC, which comprises majority of the council's members, including the democratically elected PA Prime Minister Ismael Haneyya and the acting PLC speaker Dr. Ahamd Bahar among other legislators have signed the document.
"The Palestinian people is the only party that is entitled to determine their own fate in the way it suits them being the true owners of historic Palestine from the Jordan River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west", affirmed Bahar as he recited the document of " pledge and loyalty" that criminalizes any person conceding the legal rights of the Palestinian people before the PLC members. "The Palestinian people's right in this land [Palestine] could neither be negated by the passing of the time nor could it be diminished by exercising [political and economic] pressures on them", Bahar Added, stressing the Arab and Muslim depth of the Palestinian cause. He also asserted that although the international community remained idle and silent towards the historic crime of displacing millions of Palestinian citizens out of their country, the Palestinian people will remain steadfast in clinging to their right of return to their homeland in the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands, from which they were forced out at gunpoint at the hands of armed Jewish gangs. Furthermore, Bahar underlined "We affirm that any political solutions exclude the right of return of Palestinian refugees, freeing Palestinian captives, and retrieving usurped Palestinian lands and holy shrines will be altogether rejected as we will never submit to anyone attempting to impose those solutions on us". Condemning the ill-fated Oslo agreement, Bahar explained that accords like the Oslo agreement had pushed the Palestinian people into endless [political] mazes, underscoring that the attempt of certain parties to impose more mazes under new names like the roadmap plan or the Annapolis conference won't help stability in the region. The PA legislator also confirmed the conference was, in the first place, in the interest of the USA and Israel that aims at classifying the Arab and Muslim world into "moderates" and "extremist" in order to justify hitting the infrastructure of the legitimate Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation. "It is our sanctioned right to resist the occupation of our country with all available means [similar to other countries that fell under the occupation]", Bahar highlighted, urging unity and consolidation of the Palestinian and Arab ranks in order to build "a strong community able to establish an independent state". -- http://almasakinnewsagency.googlepages.com/ http://feeds.feedburner.com/Al-masakinNewsAgency http://almasakinnewsagency.blogspot.com/ |

27/11/2007 With the opening of the Annapolis Conference, Palestinian organizations in the Gaza Strip and around the world are sending a clear message to those gathering in Maryland. Tuesday morning the Popular Resistance Committees announced the beginning of operation "Autumn Storm" in which the organization plans to launch rocket attacks at Sderot settlement and the western occupied territories during the conference. "The Annapolis Conference has been called the Autumn Conference, and leaves fall in the autumn; therefore, our missiles will also fall on Israeli settlements," said a PRC spokesman, explaining the name. "We are sure that the masks will fall of the faces of the conference participants, and all will see their conspiracy against the interests of the Palestinian people."
The spokesman, who calls himself Abu Abir, said that the missiles — which already began falling Tuesday morning — "will carry a message to all the world that the conference does not represent the Palestinian people and will only cause damage and increase the Palestinian's burden. We are also sending the message that whoever participates in the conference from the Palestinian side barely even represents himself. Our rocket fire, which began this morning on Sderot and Nahal Oz, is the language in which we have chosen to launch our message and to respond to the conference's intentions to forfeit Palestinian rights and sell them off to benefit Israel."
Responding to the question of just how the organization has already decided the conference will end with the Palestinian Authority "selling" Palestinian rights and making concessions to Israel, Abu Abir said that "the very act of Arab states and leaders sitting down with a delegation from the Zionist enemy along with the discussion being conducted regarding normalization of ties between Israel and the Arab world — this already constitutes a concession. The very fact that (Palestinian President Mahmoud) Abbas and the Palestinian Government arrived in spite of the Palestinian consensus, in spite of the Palestinian organizations' stance, is already a concession that reveals contempt for the principal Palestinian demand to bring back intra-Palestinian dialogue and fraternity before any discussion with the enemy."
Regarding the latest reports from Annapolis, according to which the two sides had made some progress, Abu Abir scornfully retorted, "Does any serious person believe this talk? The conference will fail without a doubt. This was in fact its fate from the day the idea was born because there is not a single point on which both sides agree. Despite the fact that from the Palestinian perspective they are only asking for the minimum, they will not arrive at any mutual accord, this will prove that this is a conference for photographs and public relations."
As concerns the possibility that the Qassam rocket fire will only facilitate Israeli military activity in Gaza, Abu Abir explained: "We give the Israelis no excuse and they need no excuse. Tonight, yesterday, and every day the Israelis shoot, kill, demolish and liquidate and our rockets are only a response to the escalation. No one has the right to give up a single inch of Palestinian land. No one has the right to forfeit the right of every last refugee to return home. This is our way of saying that the Palestinians will never recognize Israel, neither as a Jewish state nor as anything else."
Islamic Jihad Secretary General Abdullah Ramadan Shallah slammed on Tuesday the Annapolis Conference and the Arab peace initiative, which he called "worse than President Bush's vision, worse than the Road Map, and even worse than the Oslo Accords and the Balfour Declaration." Shallah said it is his belief that the conference's purpose was "to drag new Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, to normalizing relations with Israel and to cement an Arab-Israeli-American alliance that will lend an Arab façade to a possible American-Israeli raid on Iran."

Deputy Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement on Monday described the Annapolis autumn meeting as part of an American policy to lay siege on the Islamic world.
Abu Tariq Ziad said the meeting is held to put under siege the (Middle East) region's political insight which is based on resistance and Islamic awakening.
In an exclusive interview with IRIB reporter in Damascus, he termed the Annapolis autumn meeting as an American conspiracy against the Palestinian nation.
"However, this time the American moves are more dangerous because they are bogged down in Iraq's quagmire and they are looking for a way to escape from the problems arised by their failed policies," he added.
Ziad noted that the meeting is held to deceive Arabs and improve America's position in the region.
He reiterated that the Palestinian nation will never be deceived by the White House officials and is aware that America only supports the Zionist regime.
The Islamic Jihad deputy Secretary General warned Arab and Islamic countries to be aware of America's plot to make them to recognize the Zionist regime. He underlined that the illegal regime has not fulfilled its pledges upon retreating from the 1967 Palestinian territories.
Ziad said America wants to stimulate Arabs to set position against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its peaceful nuclear program.
"By the Annapolis autumn meeting, Americans try to pretend that the Zionist regime is not problematic for the Arab countries and instead the main problem threatening the region is Iran's nuclear program," he stressed.
He added that the arrogant powers' deceit will not have any result because "people in the region know Iran's nuclear program is peaceful and the Iranian officials have always stressed on the point."
Abu Tariq Ziad said, "Americans don't want the Islamic countries to enjoy modern science so that the Islamic Ummah always remain dependent on them."
"They want to undermine the position of the Arabs and Muslims against Zionism and to bring them to their knee," he said.

Iran-Government-Annapolis
The upcoming so-called peace conference in Annapolis, US, would have no conclusion but disgrace, government spokesman, Gholam-Hossein Elham, said on Tuesday.
"The conference is to be held in line with the US efforts to support the fake regime of Israel, revive its lost credit and bring it out of isolation," said the spokesman during his weekly press briefing.
The US-backed conference is to be held in Annapolis, Maryland, later on Tuesday.
"The conference will have no effect on the legal and fair efforts of the Palestinian people to return to their country," Elham said.
Commenting on participation of Arab states in the conference, the spokesman said the gathering "will discredit US and its advocates." "Given Tehran's cordial relations with Muslim states including Saudi Arabia, Iran was not willing to see these states staying by their (US) sides.
"Of course, Riyadh has announced its position in advance by excluding itself from recognizing the Zionist regime and the plans leading to its recognition," Haddad-Adel stressed.
He added that the outcome of the so-called peace conference "was clear prior to its holding since the problem of Palestine will not be solved without the presence of the Palestinian nation."
However, he noted that 10 Palestinian groups will "likely visit Iran within the coming days or next week and will probably hold a meeting" here.
"The visit means that the Palestinian groups have no representative in the Annapolis conference," Elham said.
He stressed that the Annapolis conference is being held without the presence of real owners of Palestine and aimed at confronting them.

Tuesday's demonstration in Ramallah
[Ma'anImages]
Bethlehem – Ma'an – 30 protesters were injured when hundreds of heavily-armed Palestinian police and security forces dispersed a peaceful demonstration in opposition to the international meeting in Annapolis in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that police and Presidential guards used batons and teargas to disperse the 500 person demonstration, which was held in defiance of a ban on public protests issued by the Palestinian Interior Ministry. Eight people were arrested, including Jamal Juma, the coordinator of the Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign.
Mu'ammar Urabi, head of Watan TV in Ramallah, a member of the Ma'an network, was among those assaulted by Palestinian police.
Wael Shuyokhi, an Al-Jazeera correspondent was also brutally beaten while covering the rally in Ramallah.
At a second demonstration in Ramallah on Tuesday afternoon, witnesses said up to 200 protesters from the pan-Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir movement were detained by Palestinian security forces. Elderly men and women, activist, and journalists were beaten and detained.
Witnesses said PA forces surrounded the Abdel Nasser Mosque in Ramallah, fired live bullets and used teargas to disperse demonstrators.
Organizers said that up to 14 busloads of demonstrators were unable to reach Ramallah due to a heavy Palestinian security deployment throughout the West Bank.
Ahmad Muslamani, head of the Palestinian Health Work Committees, one of the organizations that sponsored the demonstration, condemned the repression, calling it an attack on freedom of speech. "We will continue to express our opinion. This is a right we have to enjoy," he said.
Dozens of Palestinian civil society organizations from throughout the West Bank, Gaza, and inside Israel endorsed a platform in opposition to the Annapolis conference. A joint statement from the organizers of Tuesday's demonstration called for a process of negotiation "aimed at the implementation of the rights of our people, and the establishment of a timeline for such implementation, not negotiation on the rights themselves."
Of particular concern for the sponsoring organizations is the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, which they fear will be surrendered in the Annapolis process.

Bethlehem - Ma'an - The Palestinian People's Party (PPP) on Tuesday denounced the use of violence by the Palestinian police in dispersing anti-Annapolis peaceful rallies, as well as assaults on journalists and citizens.
Walid Awad, a member of the PPP's politburo said he considered the police crackdown on anti-Annapolis rallies to be a dangerous indicator of the escalating violation of freedom of expression and the right to protest.
The PPP requested the immediate formation of a committee to investigate the PA crackdown on Tuesday's anti-Annapolis demonstrations across the West Bank.
The Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA) demanded that the Palestinian Authority retract its decision to ban protests.

DOHA, (PIC)-- Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, the head of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948, described the Annapolis conference as "ominous" and aimed at decriminalizing Israeli occupation of Jerusalem.
The Annapolis conference also targets dividing the Aqsa Mosque and eliminating the right of return and the Palestinian cause, the Sheikh added.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera TV channel, Sheikh Salah stated that Israel aims through the conference to confer legitimacy on an immanent devastating attack on the Gaza Strip, which may be a prelude to a broader attack on Middle East countries including Iran, Syria and Lebanon.
Regarding the theories talking about exchanging lands with Israeli occupation, the head of the Islamic movement opined that it would be a "disaster in every sense of the word because it will legitimize the presence of Israeli colonialist settlements in the West Bank".
He described Israel's demand to recognize it as a "Jewish state" as a very hideous demand because it means that the 1948 Palestinians would be regarded as "temporary nationals" vulnerable to be expelled any moment and that the right of return would be waived.
In a related context, Fatah faction announced its rejection of the Anti-Annapolis conferences held by Palestinian factions and forces, alleging that the Annapolis conference is not for negotiations but for initiating a process of serious negotiations aimed at preserving the Palestinian constants.
In a statement received by the PIC, Hamas condemned the PA leadership's decision to ban holding any activity in the West Bank against the Annapolis conference, considering it a new evidence of the mentality of "individualism and alienation" that dominates the PA leadership's conduct and actions, and an evidence proving its fear of hearing the voices that reject their capitulation policy.
