Audio:Black Friday-Day Laborers vs Anti-Illegals Bikers Ect Phoenix Az 11-23-07
34:30 minute Audio during Black Friday where as the weekly day laborers protest in front of Pruitt Furniture(past stories posted),this time they where confronted by local Anti-Illegal group, including a Biker group.
Listen now:
“Original Inhabitants will do traditional ceremony to commemorate Thanksgiving. Just like our
Native American ancestors, the Wampanoag Indians, in 1621 shared an autumn harvest with the Plymouth pilgrims, we will bring a thanksgiving feast to Roger Sensing, owner of Pruitts Furniture and his Sheriff Deputies this Friday, November 23, 2007 at 1pm. We selected the day after thanksgiving, because it symbolizes the biggest shopping day of the year in the United States and the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. The day is known for many as “Black Friday.” This year, immigrant rights advocates and community leaders will ensure that the community does not shop at Pruitts .
Date: Friday, November 23, 2007
Time: 1 pm - 3 pm
Where: Sidewalk of Pruitt ’s Furniture (Aztlan )
Last Saturday, Roger Sensing and his Sheriff Deputies blocked demonstrators and the community from walking on the sidewalk due to supposed maintenance on their yard. The Sheriffs decisions were overturned by
the City of Phoenix Police Department, after determining that the permit did not block people from walking on the sidewalk. The workers were actually minutemen pretending to do the very same work that our people are being prosecuted for performing. The contributions of the day laborers to the economy cannot be replaced by a few minutemen and their hatred towards working people. This Friday, we are celebrating the contributions that all immigrants have brought to this land. We will not be deterred by Sensing, the Maricopa County Sheriff Deputies, and his minutemen.
The protesters will exercise our first amendment
rights and march across the street of Pruitts regardless of their ill attempts to silence our voices. We will have the traditional thanksgiving gifts offered by our indigenous brothers and sisters.”
