Dear Sir:
Congratulations on your recent assignment here. We wish you success in your diplomatic and other endeavors. We also hope you enjoy representing your great country as you perform your duties in the city of San Francisco.
As teacher unionists, we are very much concerned about the treatment of our sister and brother teachers in Japan, especially when they express their views on political issues that range from the re-militarizaton of Japan to other issues that have human and political implications. In order that you may understand our specific concerns, I am enclosing a resolution the Executive Board of the American Federation of Teacher, Local 2121 passed recently. This resolution was also passed by the San Francisco Labor Council and by various other labor, community and human rights organizations.
Representatives of AFT2121 and other union and community activists will be participating in the October 5, 2007 action and we would very much appreciate the opportunity to meet with you for a few minutes during the demonstration. Please me know if are able and willing to meet with us.
Sincerely,
Ed Murray, President, AFT 2121
