"Turning The Tide" The Saving of Richardson Bay
Documentary Screening - Marin County
Thursday, October 4, 7pm.
This 50 minute documentary by David M. Gotz retells through interviews, archival photographs, and video the story of a pivotal event in Peninsula history, and one of the earliest environmental preservation efforts in Marin County: The dramatic community effort which blocked a massive, 2,000-home development called Reeds Port proposed for the tidelots of Richardson Bay; the history, rescue, transport and conservation of the lovely Lyford House; and the story of Rose Verrall, Tiburon's "Goat Lady", who donated her valuable land which now serves as the site for the Lyford House and the Richardson Bay Audubon Center.
