New Jersey Times - 9/19/07
In 1977, lawmakers and their constituencies agreed that the time had come to save the waters of the United States, and so came about the Clean Water Act. The time has come to once again protect our most precious natural resource and update the act, which has suffered debilitating blows in recent years...

TRINITY RIVER DESERVES MONEY TO BACK PROMISES
http://www.redding.com/news/2007/sep/22/trinity-river/
Redding Record Searchlight - 9/22/07
What's a promise without the follow-through? A lie.
That's the only way to describe those long-ago vows that Trinity River diversions wouldn't hurt the river's fisheries. Now that decades of agitation and litigation have restored a measure of the river's flows, Indian tribes along the river fear that promises of a full restoration will similarly be forgotten...

KlamathBasinCrisis - 9/18/07
Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,
As you are aware, a number of dams owned by PacifiCorp in Siskiyou County are in the relicensing process and the subject of dam removal discussions. The County of Siskiyou and its constituents stand to be significantly impacted if any of the dams slated for relicensing are to be removed. The County of Siskiyou is supportive of fish and river health but has been and continues to be in opposition to dam removal...

ACTION ALERTS:

September 26th is National Clean Water Phone Congress Day!
The U.S. House of Representatives is poised to act this fall on what could be the most important clean water legislation in 35 years: The Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R. 2421). This bipartisian bill would reinstate the original language of the Clean Water Act, neutralizing Bush Administration rollbacks that gutted Clean Water legislation in 2001. Learn more from the Clean Water Network http://www.cleanwaternetwork.org//issues/scope/newsandinfo/DisplayContent.cfm?ContentID=558&ContentTypeID=4PageFormat=DisplayContent or the Sierra Club legislative tracker http://www.sierraclub.org/legislativetracker/109S912.asp websites.
Participate in this National Day of Action, and make a quick call to your Representative in Congress. The message is simple: Please support the Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R. 2421) NOW. The Clean Water Restoration Act will provide environmental protection for ALL of our nation's waters.
Call Greg Walden at (202) 225-6730
