Update from the Oak Grove

Please see earlier posts for more info.

Today there was a little march to spread fliers and information. We went through campus and ended at the free Tent University. He sat for a class about animal torture at the UC Berkeley. Later we marched down Telegraph then up to the grove.

At the grove the tree sitters were putting up more lines between trees and getting suplied with food and water. Soon the Vice Chanceller and Chief or high up UC police woman and others had a little meeting on the corner. Starting at 5:00 was a planned Tree De-Fence party and ten cops came out of their fence and forced us away from the fence and onto the sidewalk. More people should and will be coming in the next few hours.

Nice reporting and photos, but what does this mean "He sat for a class about animal torture at the UC Berkeley." I'm sure it's a typo and it's also not clear, could you explain?

Yesterday I was able to get home in time for the 10 o'clock news, and KTVU gave a very favorable report, and kept using the story as their 'teaser' to keep watching the newscast.
They showed Tennessee fans taking pictures with cameras and generally saying "cool!", and one said that even if it's weird, you have to respect the people in the trees. There was someone who said it was unsanitary. They showed a reasonable interview with Zachary and didn't cut him off. The university was saying that they weren't starving the sitters.

abc had aerial shots of the sits during the game. they also discussed the situation. said that the trees were planted in 1923 and that 1 mature tree and 2 saplings would be planted elsewhere if they cut this area and build the gym. kinda missed the point on the ecosystem, but it was some coverage on the issue. imagine the univ doesn't like it being in the limelight, but the aerial shots did illustrate that there is a forest there and should they build, it'll just be a solid block of concrete. humans just don't get it, in my opinion... no corridors for wildlife or other plant communities to thrive on, such a shame...
