ANSWER Activist Meeting

Join us for an eyewitness report back from the critical Aug.20 hearing in the case of the Cuban five in the 11th circuit court of appeals in Atlanta, Georgia. Dozens of national and international jurists and activists attended a reception on Aug.19 and were in the courtroom for the hearing on Aug.20. Also, hear an update on the war in Iraq and plans for the national and local fall mobilizations. Find out how you can volunteer now to help build for the Oct. 27 Mass March in San Francisco.

Mon. Aug. 27, 6pm
Rally to demand backwages for Woodfin Hotel Workers
1333 Park St., at Hollis, in Emeryville

Join the ANSWER Coalition at this important action.

Workers at the Woodfin Suites Hotel have been struggling for a year to win their rights under Emeryville's living wage law, while hotel managers have stalled endlessly in turning over wage records to the city. In June, the City of Emeryville finally ordered the hotel to pay workers about $250,000 in back wages. But instead of paying up, the hotel got a pricey anti-union law firm to appeal the order. On August 27th, the city of Emeryville will hold a hearing to consider the Woodfin's appeal and make a decision about how much the hotel must pay its workers, and when.

Rally at 6pm to support the Woodfin Hotel Workers and then show your support in the hearing at 7pm .
