White Supremacists Turn Bailey’s Murder into a Call for Attacks

by East Bay Anglos Against Racism
Bailey's murder and police attacks on black community don't jibe.
Bay Area White Supremacists Turn Chauncey Bailey’s Murder into a Call for Attacks on Black Community, Officials

In the 24 hours that followed a 200 man SWAT team and tri-county police raid on the Black Muslim Bakery and the surrounding Oakland community, Bay Area residents (some presumed to be based in white supremacist stomping grounds of the Bay) waged a pitched battle against black youth, spewing racist accusations and terrifying cries for modern-day lynchings in the streets of North Oakland.

Similar outrageous comments undoubtedly came from inside of supposed “liberal communities” throughout Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco. Were it not for the courageous people who attempted to quiet these dogs of race and class war, the recognition of Chauncey Bailey’s unwaveringly bold contribution towards justice and the illegal circumstances under which the bakery and several houses were raided, would’ve been left in the dust.

The murder of Chauncy Bailey is hardly an open/shut case. If it ever happens, it will take several months, if not years, for the truth of Bailey’s assassination to be uncovered. And the police still have to explain how and if they obtained a warrant for the arrests that were made for this intensely political crime.

It must be known that i am a white anti-racist activist. I spent some time culling these comments from a blog tied to the end of a lead story on the arrest of seven workers of the Black Muslim Bakery, and it made me sick to my stomach to read these posts. The baseless propaganda following September 11th, 2001 (and throughout the occupation of Iraq) were being recreated again but, this time, by (apparently) everyday people themselves – people who live in our communities -- and not the corporate, reality TV, mainstream press through the orders of a blood and oil thirsty State Department.

Here, all Muslims and the entire African American population of the Bay Area are cast as terrorists (i.e. gang members, gun runners, extortionists, murderers). I was surprised that the words “Al-Qaeda” never entered into the ridiculousness, until I realized how much worse it is that the haters on this blog had already absorbed the “official line” and felt perfectly justified in spewing wretched demands for the city to “send in the military” to “finish the job” of imprisoning or murdering black youth, or returning to the days of lynch mobs. It is not so coincidental that “random people who blog” are making racist, ignorant ties between “al-Qaeda”, the black and latino community in the US, and anti-racist, anti-war solidarity groups worldwide. This is the way the State Department has intended it.

Excerpts of the comments are printed below and are painful to read but, I thought, important to expose for the gross ignorance that is contained and for the sensibility that prevailed. As the Bay Area continues to be glorified as a place of prime real estate, another “new frontier” in the manifest destiny of the white corporate establishment, gang injunctions (“domestic terrorism” laws), police raids, small business and home foreclosures will be the governer’s priority, regardless of new ideas the city government might offer.

Resistance and communication are of paramount importance. This case will be used as part of the state’s "anti-terrorism" arsenal to stir and “harness the forces of migration”, as the DHS likes to say, throughout the Bay Area by creating a new mandate for police brutality and illegal detentions of black and brown folks. We must refuse to be silent and do as Chauncey did – risk the rest of our lives in the pursuit of real community through truth and justice.

Here we go again! Every crime committed of any person who has any affiliation to the Nation Of Islam will be accused of a harsh crime. I hate to hear of the reporter who was killed, no one deserves to be killed. Why blame the Muslim Bakery?
memyslfni1969 | 08.03.07 - 8:15 am

These guys at the bakery arent with the Nation of Islam. They are a group of violent criminals that attempt to hide behind the good name of the NOI.
yougottabekiddingme | 08.03.07 - 8:53 am

Why blame the bakery Muslims? Why not? Time has shown what these creatures are all about. From sex slavery to gun toting valdalising thuggery, it seems they are Al Capone wanna-be's.

What other organization in Oakland has the Vans and the will do to street terrorism? The SLA is gone.
A Reader | 08.03.07 - 9:02 am

These guys are thugs. All that money and no education or class. These are thugs plain and simple.

The Black Muslim Bakery is nothing more than an organized and well-financed gang.

I suggest we boycott all their bakeries and try and remove the bakery they have in the airport which makes the entire City of Oakland look bad.

Everyone should write to their political leaders to get that embarassment out of our airport.

Time for the trash man to take out the trash.
New Trash Man | 08.03.07 - 9:24 am

nah, hell, now where am I gonna get my nasty little bean pies? (bean pies, wtf??????)

and to memyslfni1969, try spell check, it's under the tools menu, you're not making a good case when all folks notice in your argument are the misspellings and bad grammer.
Hagyl | 08.03.07 - 9:29 am

Question: Why do you think that you (the police) had Probable Cause to raid the Bakery?

And as far as Mr. Bailey is concerned he use to eat at Your Black Muslim Bakery from my understanding he was a part of the black Muslim Family.
Bessie Barnes | 08.03.07 - 9:32 am

In my opinion not knowing of the area but being Afro-American this is way bigger than (what) the media-police are (telling us)!!
There ARE a lot of secrets that are sent into our communities for the purpose to keep all Afro-Americans down!!! As a people we have to Re train our Villages and our children before we as a race becomes no more. This Muslim/Africian division from the Afro-American is OUTRAGOUS WE ARE ALL CONNECTED!! NO ONE IS ANY BETTER THAN THE OTHER!!I refuse to comment on anything that is happening right now because it is all political.

a GREAT MAN has LOST HIS LIFE FOR OUR RIGHT TO KNOW THE TRUTH!!! AS USUAL LOOKING BACK ON HISTORY THEY HAVE ONCE AGAIN SILENCED THAT VOICE WITH VIOLENCE.THIS IS FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF KEEPING INGORANCE IN PLACE.

Please look into the truth for the answers and take care of our communties against all persons
that do not have our communties in mind for the GOOD!!!

CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF MISTER BAILEY AND WATCH YOUR BACK.

They failed to mention that the story Chauncy was working on was about some financial hardships that the organization was having. Who knows what he was about to uncover.

I hope they get what they deserve.
Anonymous | 08.03.07 - 11:22 am

Your ignorance and hatred are disturbing. As for your other comments, you failed to understand that these people are not connected with the Nation of Islam.
Roberto | 08.03.07 - 11:40 am

Folks, the timing of the raid the morning after a chilling murder certainly begs a lot of questions. Yes, maybe the raid was planned far in advance, but the very morning after this notorious murder.

If police thought these guys were linked to a bunch of other stuff, why not raid earlier?
S.H. | 08.03.07 - 12:02 pm
I dont comend them for anything. If they said something positive it was to coverup their illegal and stupid activities. Let me ask you this. Did they ever provide assistance for someone who was not black? I dont think so.

Like I said earlier, they are a bunchof liars, thugs, and need to go around in groups cause they are too scared to do anything when they are alone. I hope they all rot.

Black racism has finally been exposed on the front page news. Everybody take notice and look really good. Finally! Make examples out of all of them and send the message loud and clear.
Puro Justice | 08.03.07 - 12:37 pm

Anon, you wrote (If there are other muslim leaders who feel they are an insult to them then they should speak up and let it be known. To ignore a problem is to become an accomplice to it.) You should give that same message to the

Catholic Church, remember they molest children and protect each other from prosecution.

If the Beys are responsible then they should face the consequences and I also agree with the poster who said "Why haven't we taken this kind of action on any of the other murders in our communities?
Michael | 08.03.07 - 12:45 pm

About time something was done about these TURDS who operated under the false pretense that they were a religious group. This group (Your Black Muslim Bakery) was given $2 Million by the city to fund there true livelihood of drug trafficking and gun running through out the city of Oakland and the bay area. How were they ever truly Your Black Muslim Bakery; when they were selling not only baked goods but also dope and guns. It's about time these TURDS were handled as they should have been years ago. Good Job OPD!!

HEY NOW | 08.03.07 - 2:32 pm

I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life and have witnessed the many crimes these animals have commited.

They get the benefit of hiding behind their religion. They have been able to get a pass in Oakland because there are OPD that are members/friends and they pay off the corrupt politicans.

Years and Years and Years, the DA has looked the other way while these scum bags raped, extorted and killed because the DA and OPD command staff were afraid of the political fallout.

These guys should be exposed for what they are common racist criminal trash… but in this sick city we tout these people as 'Community Leaders' and 'Prominant Individuals'. Sam I am.
I do not like green bean pies | 08.03.07 - 3:06 pm

I bet that they will hire Tony Serra and John Burris to defend them, they got lots of pimp and drug money which should pay for a lot of justice. There won't be a conviction on any count, the jurors will be too afraid and the DA will screw it up on purpose. Too bad that this is not the 1840's when justice would get served up. I think all of the liberal doo gooders should boycott these people, hey Quakers Berkeley is just around the corner. Why not boycott them with picket signs every Friday morning? They have declared war on the Citizens of Oakland. Help us!!!!
Hope they got lots of evidence | 08.03.07 - 3:13 pm

did anyone else notice that the headline says the bakery is connected, yet the trib left this paragraph in:
Authorities said at this point, there is nothing to connect bakery employees to the ambush murder Thursday morning in downtown of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey, who was known to be working on a story about the organization.
te | 08.03.07 - 3:36 pm

THE BEYS ARE INNOCENT you are all talking nonsense you dont know shit about it so stop SO JUST BECAUSE AN AFRICAN MUSLIM MAN has a good business, money, and a nice car and they live in Oakland, they’re automatically a drug dealer?!?
Dont Worry | 08.03.07 - 3:40 pm

I have lived in No. Oakland for many years and many others of my neighbors who have also lived here for years know the truth about Your [sic] Black Muslim Bakery. I also know that the hate that Yusef Bey preached (I also watched him on SoulBeat) has nothing to do with the Nation of Islam. I join many, many others in this actually great neighborhood of Golden Gate in saying, upon hearing that they've closed down that bakery, "ABOUT TIME!!!"
north oakland neighbor | 08.03.07 - 4:03 pm

This situation at Your Muslim Bakery is sad but for those who visit the bakery can see how badly it looks since Dr. Bey passed away.

Lets not get confused on the truth. The truth is that when visiting it's nothing like what it used to be. It's wierd that there are people on here say that the Bey's are innocent, my question to you is are you blind?

When Dr. Bey was alive you never saw anyone working for the bakery standing outside, it was all work and business. However, when I pass or visit the bakery I see young black men standing outside like drug dealer's standing at a corner store.

There was a time what you would walk in and be greeted in the Arabic words of As-Salaam Alikum which mean peace be unto you. But now when you go there you can see that there is no discipline whatsoever.

This organization is a bad example calling themselves Muslims when in reality there beliefs compared to True Islam is about as far as Mars is to Pluto.

As a Black man who grew up in Oakland I can see that there is no difference between the destructive activities of a dope dealer and that of the current YBMB.

Some of the same men that I saw as young boys working there with pride and discipline I now see walking around the bakery with doo rags and baggy clothes just like any other hoodlum on the street.

I can write about this all day because I'm not blinded by the positive things achieved under Dr. Bey's leadership, however this is another force running the bakery who has taken the business back 40 years.

Salaam

1st of all don't blame the entire Bey family. Most of the people involved aren't even a Bey. The entire family has done ALOT of good for the Oakland community. I admit the disgusting things that Yusuf Bey Sr. did are not ok by any means but don't make the ones who do NO wrong & work hard everyday to support their wives & kids pay for what a few have done. Most of the TRUE BEY MEN dont even work at the bakery nor are they any longer affiliated. Yes they carry the last names but that is it.

All of you people have your opinions but do not know what you are talking about. Most of the Bey men are hard working, honest & successful men by there own LEGAL doings. Yusuf Bey SR. taught us all how to work & the value of a dollar & Family. I wish everybody would just get your facts straight before you talk about something that you have NO comprehension of.
Know what you are talking about | 08.03.07 - 4:14 pm

Ok, everybody listen up whoever was the blame for Chauncey's death will have to suffer the wrath of God. We can complain all day about this incident but no words can take away the pain Mr. Baily's family and friends are feeling. The community needs to come together to form peace and stop the killings!!!!!

I am sorry for the Bailey family and the City of Oakland, CA.

I hope they have the bastards in custody.

One point, did you see the photos of Oakland OPD and SWAT.
Tactical Sir!!! Awesome.

Why cant we have Operation Hammer Drop in Oakland?

Mass deployment and round-up.
Ya think Dellums would authorize?
82nd Airborne (Ret.) | 08.03.07 - 4:54 pm

So not only did these gangsters murder a reporter in broad daylight, but they took the murder weapon back to their nest. They are both Evil and Stupid. What a combination for Oakland.

At least the District Attorney's Office is still in the hands of Tom Orloff - who pursued the Black Panther Gang as a young DA - rather than under control of the current Chocolate City Mob.

It's too bad that the sex criminal Bey died before he could die in CA Prisons. His brood will not be so lucky it seems. Maybe he was just smarter than his boys seem to be.

An Oakland voice | 08.03.07 - 5:50 pm

The Black Muslims wouldn't have amounted to a hill of beans (pies or not) without your taxdollars being handed to them year after year by the City Council and Mayor.

Will the handouts end now? Probably not. These jerks have security contracts all over the Bay Area and a shop at the Airport. Killing Chauncey Bailey is just gonna be a bump in the road for these fools unless y'all stand up to the Council and Mayor and demand that the payouts stop.
Ms.Urban | 08.03.07 - 6:52 pm

Maybe the city council can give these guys a Measure Y violence prevention grant.

Whenever blacks start organizing the police find someway to rip them apart & why did it take 200 cops to take down a small bakery, I mean it's so damn obvious whats really going on if ppl knew how to read between the lines. Also, people must realize that there’s several Black Muslim factories & schools out here in Oakland which have NO CONNECTIONS with the North Side organization or it's bakery. Minister Keith Muhammad who has the mosque & school on Foothill near Sem City (Seminary) is not affiliated with the Beys nor is the school on 47th & Bancroft

It was just a matter of time before all the racist people came out to comment using this report of the Black Muslims to spill their hate, and JEALOUSY against Oakland City Officials who beat out the candidate they were supporting.

Some of the Black Muslims are criminals, and should be brought to justice, but racist, and bitter people are commenting here to air the garbage they've always spoke behind closed doors blaming the likes of Lee, and Dellums for supporting the Black Muslims.

If Lee, Dellums, or any other city official supported the Black Muslims cause, it was the part they saw that was doing good for the Oakland community, they supported the good that the Black Muslims were doing, not the bad that the ones running a muck were doing, so you can save all the who supported who talk because you aren't fooling anybody.
Pro Oakland | 08.03.07 - 8:28 pm

The black on black crime in Oakland has to stop. I said to a friend, "maybe it's time to move" he said "black people only kill each other in Oakland." Sad but true. Stop the violence.

Stop the Bey family and their followers.

US Military- Out of Iraq and into Oakland!

Any city where a thug, dressed all in black, with an assault rifle, would try to board an AC Transit bus needs a military presence!
Anonymous | 08.03.07 - 8:30 pm

Pro-Oakland, It appears that you are a very self righteous arrogant you know what indeed.

There was a time, it's true when Bey probably did run a good bakery. There was a time too, when Jim Jones was OK. But the thing is when things get weird with organizations like this, when their are black people involved. you politically correct self-righteous liberals don't want to hear anything and you shut everyone up.

The facts are: That the Bey clan has probably been violent for a long time. if you google you read about an Oakland police officer search as far back as a decade ago based on someone's complaints about a beating they received at their hands. We heard weird rumors and reports about Jim Jones too, but he was politically connected to the SF Democrats at that time so everyone hushed that up too because he could turn out several hundred to rallies and too vote.

So, you'd better think twice with your self-righteous bullcrap. you probably don't live in the neigbhorhood where all these Bey murders recently took place so go take a hike you big arrogant pig!

Notinmytown | 08.03.07 - 8:47 pm

People like Pro-Oakland have the blood of 900 people on his/her hands that Jim Jones killed plus the three known here in Oakland (unknown) raped, sexually molested...

And what was the good part you were talking about? A role model for young black men?

This has nothing to do with jealousy over who was elected. It has to do with weak politicians like Keith Carson who blindly follow hollow principals unthinkingly and a left, nonothing, predominantly white affluent status quo who is so out of touch it ain't funny. the same white left middle class status quo that supported Huey Newton too. And you think we are jealous of that jumped up little drug dealer they called Dr. with his baloney papers and writing at Stanford University? What a sorry comment on Stanford U.

Think again your silly competitive thoughts. And why should people be JEALOUS of who is in power? Jealous of an old, power-hungry fool who said he didn't want to run city government to begin with? Who said he wouldn't be mayor 24/7? This city's voters are going to live to regret their decisions and political choices and Chauncey Bailey has already paid with his life.

Why is no media outlet asking this question of Oakland police:

You suspected these guys of committing two other murders, enough to get warrants. WHY DID THEY WAIT TO SERVE WARRANTS AND MAKE ARRESTS?

Yes, it is Monday-morning quarterbacking but shouldn't they have to answer this? If I was a relative or colleague of Mr. Bailey, I sure would be asking this.

It's a fair question.
M.S. | 08.03.07 - 11:32 pm

This operation against the bakery thugsters will definately have an effect on the Oakland murder rate. These bakers committed several murders in Oakland to gain power and fear. They intimidated the community at great lenghts while committing numerous crimes for profit. They all wore $200 suits and drove $80,000 brand new cars. Because of thier "Nation of Islam" appearance they tricked society into thining they stood for the betterment of the black community, which gave them political backing and support. Only those in the the black community itself know exactly what these baking thugs were REALLY doing, victimzing the community for thier personal gain. I HOPE THEY ROT IN HELL. VERY GOD JOB BY OPD AND ALL AGENCIES INVOLVED. I hope the leader, Yusef Bey IV, sees what it feels like to be intimidated the way the hammer what brought down!!!
Good Day For Oakland | 08.03.07 - 11:58 pm

The Black Muslim Bakery has no connection to the Nation of Islam. Farrakhan kicked Bey out of the Nation a long time ago for his indiscretions!! White people get it right before you start running your mouths.
Anonymous | 08.04.07 - 12:00 am

First off to the Bailey family stay strong and you will make it thru these troubling times.

As for this Bakery incident, since when did the police start needing 200 officers to raid a bakery. If you drive or take the bus down San Pablo Ave. from one end to the other I can assure you that you will not see 200 police officers on the beat on any given day.

Its a sad situation. Black on Black crime has become so customary in the Bay Area that our communities have become accustomed to it. Over the years I've witnessed so many young Black people killed (whether it be from gun violence or drugs) I began to accept the fact that I would be killed before reaching the age 25. Or in jail for killing someone who tried to kill me.

On that note I have a couple of words that you should look up like genocide, and the presidents favorite word terrorism. These two words describe what the Bay Area communities breathe everyday.

Thanks to the Richmond city council I haven't seen the National Guard pulling duty out here but they (the national guard) did send me a letter in the mail asking me to join their crusade. The city council of one of the most dangerous cities in California if not the most dangerous Richmond, Ca. failed to approve a state of emergency with a 7-2 vote.

They argued that the state of emergency would hurt property values and local businesses and still would not address the real problems which are drugs and murder. They decided to raise sales tax a half-cent for people who are already poor to help fight crime.

To make a long story short if you elect the wrong people to run the city nothing will go right.I wish Bailey would have started with Oakland City Hall instead of the mean streets of Oakland. My Father use to tell me first we paint the house let it dry and then we cut the lawn.

Just the name of the bakery confuses me. Your Black Muslim Bakery. The bakery has said they are not an affiliate of the Nation of Islam in any type of way then how can you call yourself a Black Muslim? Thats like calling yourself a Christian and never touching the Bible.
Richmond CA Resident | 08.04.07 - 12:22 am

B.M.-

You're an idiot...period! Do some research before you make stupid comments. Farrakhan has simply pointed out facts regarding Black/Jewish relationships in this country as well as globally. His words have been taken out of context for years. White people just dont like him because he wants African-Americans to be independent.

White people complain about dependent African-Americans but then want to degrade someone attempting to heighten African-American awareness. Get a clue, also tell you're racist white counterparts to stop being in denial about the state of African-Americans and their contribution to the sad state we're in.
Anonymous | 08.04.07 - 12:26 am

They can call themselves Black Muslims because that's what they are. They're not affiliated with the Nation of Islam which is the largest group of Black Muslims in the country. Are they practicing clean Islam? No! But what White Christian in this country practices clean christianity!????? Not many...remember christianity was the white mans excuse for slavery, and their tool to keep African-Americans mentally enslaved for years!!
Anonymous | 08.04.07 - 12:30 am

The police didnt ONLY raid the bakery. They also raided several houses all over Oakland of people associated with the bakery thugs. The operation targeted the whole organization, which was needed. THAT IS WHY 200 POLICE OFFICERS WERE NEEDED. With all of the shootings and murders the bakery thugs commited, the murder rate is sure to go down. So the police are doing thier job on fighting the violence!!! The bakery thugs were responsible for much of the Oakland violence. Time will prove that as the the violent crime rate wil now start to drop.
Good Day For Oakland | 08.04.07 - 12:52 am

Anti-Semite for telling the truth??!! You said "He's the dummy that thinks jews are responsible for all the evils of the world." That comment doesnt say that Jews are responsible for all the evil in the world. It states that Jews have been leeching on the black community. You have to understand that African-Americans were doing quite well during segregation. After integration Jews came into the neighborhoods and opened their stores, businesses, etc and took that cash that would have been recycled into the community and ran back to suburban america. While strategically African-Americans were no longer given the same loans, support, etc to maintain their own community businesses. We dont even want to start on the subject of Jewish slumlords! Be realistic! Jews and Black have had a unique relationship in this country. Many Jewish professors that were kicked out of Germany taught at Historically Black Colleges because they couldnt get hired elsewhere. Im not saying that Jews are bad people...just the ones who HAVE leeched from the black community. Dont hate on Farrakhan for telling the truth. You've been lied to by the ruling class....you think you're in the club..
Anonymous | 08.04.07 - 1:21 am

Ha! I am in the club, buddy. Here's some more...(hint, he doesnt just hate jews)

White people are potential humans…they haven’t evolved yet." Philadelphia Inquirer, 3/18/00

Hold on, here's another...

“I heard from a very reliable source that under that levee there was a 25 foot hole, which suggested that it may have been blown up, so that the water would destroy the black part of town, and where the whites lived, it would be dry.” Remarks at Shelter for Hurricane Katrina Victims, Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina, 9/12/05

Here's a funny one...

"A decree of death has been passed on America. The judgement of God has been rendered and she must be destroyed..." New York Amsterdam News, 8/14-20/97; Harlem, NY, 8/9/97

What a guy, that farrakhan.

If your going to worship the words of some black dude, maybe try Eddie Murphy or that guy from Rush Hour movies. They have broad appeal. But I'm not going to change your mind, you've been brain-washed.

Have fun in LAH- LAH land, blaming jews and white people (and the hispanics and the asians) for anything and everything that's ever happened to blacks.
B.M. | 08.04.07 - 1:35 am

I dont blame white people and jews for all the problems that the African-American community faces. You seem somewhat intelligent, you should be able to read into those comments and see the truth! America should be destroyed, he's not saying kill all americans, he's speaking about the oppressive American attitude that exists in pathetic, lying, in denial people like yourself! I could see how he feels as if white people haven't truly evolved either, based on their brutal, barbaric behavior. You think you're in the club, you're probably someone who whines about rich people. Im not blaming white people, its simple cause and effect.
Anonymous | 08.04.07 - 1:44 am

Wow, you are crazy. You remind me of those "flat earth" society people and "big foot" nuts. You actually believe your own lies and the lies of a raging racist. Want someone to blame? Look in the mirror. It's blacks that kill blacks in this town. Oh, wait. Let me guess. It's the white man's fault and the jews who have put the blacks in the position they are in. They provided the drugs and guns to them, so they are to blame, right?

blah, blah, blah. The dude you choose to worship is a racist. And I bet if he is ever assassinated, it will be at the hands of another black dude.

Why would I whine about rich people when I'm one of them? That makes no sense.

I stated that Farrakhan kicked Yusef Bey out of the Nation of Islam for his indiscretions. You said he was an anti-semite! I stated that his comments have been taken out of context. Do I worship him? No! Have I listened to him and what he has to say pertaining to Black america? Yes! Why? Because he's one of the only African-American leaders not scared to tell the truth!

If you don't think white people are directly responsible for the state of African-American society you're in denial. Plain and simple! Get a clue! White people have swept issues under the rug for so many years they actually believe African-American are just animals who kill themselves off. It's systematic oppression, mental slavery, lack of self-knowledge.

So when a leader comes along who can help end the cycle, white people say he preaches hate! I havent told any lies, all truth! It's funny that you didnt address any issues that I stated regarding the relationship between blacks and jews in america. You remind me of those geeks on craigslist in the rants/raves section. You should check your American history thoroughly! The evidence is there in black and white!

I dont see the government dropping truckloads of Chrystal Meth in poor white areas. But the government did drop guns and drugs into poverty stricken black areas, worsening the problems that they face! It's a miracle that Black people have survived in America! Dont be mad because you thought you could treat us like cattle then kill us off! True Survivors! RIP Mr. Bailey!!

This makes no sense at all. I am here from the south and just as the white man is in the south there is more indifference in California than the south. It's like this, we as black americans have not been given our 40 acres and mule. By the white community we are always being judged for pointing our fingers at the European. I luv to watch court t.v. This is my opportunity to see white people get a life sentence for killing people. Thank God!

Now about the Muslim Bakery, a lot of mistakes have been made, and now the media wants to make a fuss, why? because one of their (kind) has been murdered. The solution for all these crimes is to lock us nigga's up, huh? Most of our black men are locked up and now the women.

Yes, there is a lot of violence in the Black community, let's stop. You know what? Right now, it just hit me. We are making comments about this white/black thing and this murdered man’s family is mourning. White people face the truth, you judge us black folks and get upset because we want to be acknowledged for being held as prisoners all of these years.

Because the reporter was who he was this case is receiving a lot of publicity. There were so many articles written. I had a friend that was murdered in front of her son and younger sister. Why have there not been any story's around her? Oh, another friend was murdered at a motel. Why, not any articles written about these drug ridden motels?

This is sad, how you want to put the work of Dr.Yusef Baye and put this organization down. Yes, maybe things are getting out of order at this moment, but not all the people in this organization are bad.

Let's keep our remarks down on white or black at this moment and help the family get through this grieving period. We can comment later on the race card, PLEASE?

To the family, I am praying for you and may justice be served. To those that are commenting, let's show some compassion and at this moment let's stand together with his family and come together for the family’s sake, PLEASE. We can put our differences to the side and come united and no one respond to this in a negative way we are uniting. Just for the rest of this week I know we can do this, the first person respond about the white/black thing is one of the problems. We can do this until this man’s family has put him to rest.

Did All the Holy Romans get blamed for the Italian Mafia's crimes?
There are two tragedies here. The life of a brilliant man was taken brutally and abruptly; the life of a 19 year-old - if he is found guilty by a court of law, will be wasted. Both African Americans. Both human lives - neither lesser nor greater than the other. Even the Pope would agree - so would any honest Rabbi or Imam. Politicians are not society's moral police, so stop pontificating and spewing platitudes. Start fixing Oakland's social problems so the 2007 homicide figure is less than it was in 2006. This is not about religion, it is about poverty and racism and the innocent victims who get caught in the cross-fire.
