Come hear an update on the situation in Oaxaca from Gustavo Vilchis, a photographer who has covered the growing popular movement. He is traveling in the U.S. to share experiences and lessons learned from the year of social struggle in Oaxaca and to expose the crimes committed against the people of Oaxaca by the state and federal government. He is here representing the collective Bocacalle and is also supported by the Liga Mexicana por la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos (LIMEDDH).
A screening of COMPROMISO CUMPLIDO- IMPUNIDAD EN OAXACA (70 min) (True to my Pledge) filmed and edited by the COLECTIVE MAL DE OJO TV (http://maldeojotv.net/) will take place. The film documents some of the horrors committed against the civil society of Oaxaca, and shows the strategy of state terrorism employed by the local governor. To date 25 known deaths have been reported, and yet there have been no criminal accusations or investigations for these murders.
Gustavo, the collective Bocacalle, and LIMEDDH feel that international support and information sharing with other collectives and organizations are fundamental in the search for human rights and the respect of legitimate demands of social struggle. There is no entrance fee but donations will be collected for LIMEDDH in Oaxaca (come prepared to give!). LIMEDDH has been collecting testimonies, documenting the repression and pressuring the government during the duration of the conflict.

En representación del colectivo BOCACALLE y respaldado por la LIGA MEXICANA POR LA DEFENSA DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS (LIMEDDH), viene a EU con el objetivo de dar a conocer y denunciar los delitos cometidos contra el pueblo de Oaxaca, por parte del gobierno estatal y federal. De igual manera con el deseo de compartir experiencias y aprendizajes en el transcurrir de un año de lucha social.
