Thu JUNE 21 SUMMER SOLSTICE - Longest DAY of the YEAR

A Roving Kecak Workshop Thu June 21, 2007 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Meet 12:00 PM at 55 Second Street
Orientation starts at 12:00 PM at the "Solarium" 55 Second Street
(between Market and Mission)
The workshop will move on from here to other nearby spaces announced
during the event.
To join the group any time between 12-2PM: call 1-877-YO-REBAR for an
updated workshop location. The toll-free number will be updated
throughout the event until 2:00 PM. * * *
Celebrating the finale of Rebar's yearlong COMMONspace project, and
punching a hole in the scripted landscape of downtown's high rise
office environment, Rebar teams up with Gamelan X & One People Voice
to bring Kecak to San Francisco's POPOS (privately-owned public open
spaces). Join us in remixing Kecak into the core of commerce, and
experience an exhilarating ritual that relieves stress, heightens our
ability to listen and increases our awareness of each other. Balinese
Monkey Chant, a.k.a. Kecak (pronounced KETjak), is a ritual of vocal,
interlocking rhythms and physicality. This workshop is an American
reinterpretation of an ancient Indonesian form of community singing
that provides an engaging -- even transformative -- interactive
experience.
In this roving event, free and inclusive Kecak workshops will be
offered to the public in several downtown locations. Come vocally and
joyously expand the bandwidth of behavior within the domain of global
corporate capital!

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's movie debut focuses on the horrifying, sometimes unintentionally funny system of observation in the former East Germany. In the early 1980s, the successful dramatist Georg Dreyman and his longtime companion Christa-Maria Sieland, a popular actress, are big intellectual stars in the socialist state, although they secretly don't always think loyal to the party line. One day, the Minister of Culture becomes interested in Christa, so the secret service agent Wiesler is instructed to observe and sound out the couple, but their life fascinates him more and more...

Really Really Free Market Saturday, June 30 Noon-Dusk Dolores Park Dolores @ 19th
http://www.reallyreallyfree.org Bring stuff to give to others.
Sit with your stuff and meet folks who want it. Take home whatever you did not give away.

Really Really Free Market Saturday, June 30 Noon-Dusk Dolores Park
A Really Really Free Market is like a potluck for whatever you want to give or take away. Have you ever brought one dish to a potluck and gone away with a full belly and a balanced meal? Everybody brings something and goes away with more.
We all have skills, ideas, objects, smiles, talents, friendship, excitement, discussions, and many other things to share. If we bring them all together at the Really Really Free Market, we can provide more balanced and full lives for everyone. As a community we have many more resources than we do as individuals. If we share our resources we won't need to buy as many new ones. This uses fewer of the Earth's resources, and fewer of our working hours, leaving us more time to devote to ourselves and our communities. Would we all work forty hours a week at one job if we didn't feel we had to? What if instead we worked at improving our individual skills and talents and shared them with each other? We would all spend more time doing things we enjoyed. The Really Really Free Market is an attempt to put these ideas into practice for four hours every month and then spread the seeds everywhere - share, share, share.
Please help us keep the Really Really Free Market a 100% FREE and non-commercial event. Once a month, let's come together and forget about trading, bartering and money. Leave the business cards at home and remember the joy of giving for the sake of giving. Help us keep Art SF clean. If no one takes what you brought, please bring it home with you.
