Two attempts to steal wild parrots in S.F. within the last two weeks

by nabrudigam
Parrot poachers in S.F.
There have been two attempts to steal parrots within the last two weeks in San Francisco. One at Ferry Park and one on the Greenwich steps while Mark Bittner and Judi Irving, who live nearby, were out of town. Below is a copy of Mark’s report.

“I talked to the woman who witnessed the attempted bird napping up
here. It was right around my house while I was out of town. There
were a lot of tourists around when he suddenly announced that he was
going to catch one of the birds and that if anybody had a problem
with that they should leave.

The witness started arguing with him. He claimed it was alright to catch them
because they had escaped from a pet store and were commercial property.
He had his silent wife and two daughters there watching. The girls lured a bird
down with apple and then he tried to net the bird and failed.
The witness argued with him some more and he finally left.

He was kind of nasty, and didn't seem too bright, she says.
This never happened when I was feeding them. They would
not go to other people.”

The other attempt was already reported on this site by “Therron” at:
