Gazans: Death Strikes from Everywhere

by IOL (reposted)
GAZA CITY — Palestinians in Gaza have found themselves caught between the rock of a deadly internecine conflict and the hard place of continued Israeli air strikes as death is striking from everywhere be it Fatah, Hamas or Israel.
"Israel is killing us from the air and Hamas and Fatah are killing us from the ground," Um Hossam, 29, of Gaza City, told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"Enough, enough," added Ten-year-old Majid Fajja.

"I don't want to hear the shooting anymore. Everywhere there is shooting. It comes from Arabs and Jews."

One Palestinian was killed and five people were wounded in an Israeli air attack on the town of Beit Hanun in the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday.

The death took to at least 18 the number of Palestinians killed in eight deadly Israeli air strikes which Israel says are aimed at stopping Palestinian rocket attacks.

"The Israeli raids result in death and injuries, that's true," says Abed al-Satar, a doctor of Gaza City's Tal al-Hawa's neighborhood.

"But I am more scared of violence from our own, these dirty deeds between enemy brothers."

The fear is written on many Gazan faces nowadays as the animosity between the Palestinian rivals reaches new levels.

Despite reaching a truce on Wednesday, May 16, Fatah and Hamas forces continued fighting Saturday, May 19. The fresh clashes did not result in casualties.

On Friday, May 18, three rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the Islamic University campus, which is affiliated to Hamas. Two militants -- one from each side -- were killed. A fisherman was also killed after being caught in crossfire.

One day after the announcement of the truce, four Palestinians were killed on Thursday, May 17.

At least 49 people have died in Hamas-Fatah fighting that erupted last week, some of them unarmed civilians.

Actions not Words

Fed up with sweet talk, many Palestinians have lost faith in their leaders who failed to honor several ceasefire promises to end deadly infighting that turned their city into a ghost town.
