Support the lost children

by Cassandra C
The state has no record of how many foster children have died. This needs to change.
Dear Editor,

After reading your article “Every Child’s Life Counts,” I am disturbed and outraged at the public officials responsible for the disrespect and ill-regard of innocent foster children. How can people lose track of the numbers of foster children that die each year? This is the type of inexcusable actions that the government should be spending money trying to prevent. Instead of dedicating endless amounts of money towards bottomless pits of unneeded government spending, people need to work harder to create stability within the realms of foster care.

Although senate bill thirty-nine will produce positive change within the process, the changes don’t seem drastic enough. Petitioners must still go through the court system to receive information regarding a child’s death. As if a child’s death isn’t serious enough, but now people must fight to learn significant information about a precious human life? Senate bill thirty-nine will be beneficial but some real action must be taken so that there will be no forgotten children.

Sincerely,
Cassandra C
